Was doing a coolant change on the bike the other day. Took the fairing off and found this piece that covered the bottom 1/3 of the radiator. Is it just a diverter for air? is it mandatory? I took it off to see how it affected cooling, and it doesn't seem to have done much. The bike runs cooler but I also just replaced the coolant which was low. So, I can't be certain removing this piece did anything. I can say it seems like I get some hot air lower on my leg and foot now which I didn't seem to get before.
Additionally I still have the problem of my left leg getting cooked on hot days. Other people must have the same problem. I'm tall, 6'2", so my legs go pretty far forward and me left leg gets a lot of hot air coming out of the radiator. I just need to find some sort of small air diverter to put by the radiator exhaust port to push the air out a little further.
