Ground rules for the For Sale section:

1. Must post a price for the item, none of this "make an offer" BS
2. Must post pictures of the item. Posts with no pictures of the ACTUAL item will be deleted.
3. Sellers, once an item has sold please modify the thread title to read "SOLD" to avoid confusion on what's available.
4. Buyers, USE COMMON SENSE. If a deal seems fishy let the mod staff know. I'm all for loving one another but scumbags exist and you need to watch out sometimes.
5. Right now there is no postcount minimum to post here, but please be somewhat wary of newbies with low post counts posting here. Just use caution is all.
6. If an item is specific to either a Gen 1 or Gen 2 bike, please indicate that as well, either in the thread title or post.

I'd appreciate additional feedback, so just post anything in this thread.

7. As a note of clarification on Rule #1, ads which link to EBay, Craigslist, etc, will be deleted without warning. "Post a price" does NOT mean a link to a starting bid. If you are too lazy to actually post an ad here, then you are just spamming the forum. - CW 5/31/2016

It might be time for something in the titles that indicate which Gen the item is for maybe? Not a complaint by any means, just a suggestion.
I agree, added that to the ground rules!

perhaps a very silly question...but,

does the items for sale need to be motorcycle related or can anything be on this thread "for sale"..?

Whatcha got? Remember that moderators get first dibs!
:p

Seriously, it's unusual but we've had it happen before, such as when a member advertised a trailer and some land.
Just use some common sense, keep to the rules in the first post and don't go nuts making this into your own version of eBay. No viagra, weed, guns, atom bombs, etc.
:D
Good luck!

Being a new guy I would expect some people might be hesitant to deal with me, I know ebay listings are prohibited but would offering to do the deal through ebay if it makes the buyer feel more protected be ok?
Obviously that wouldn't be how I would list it, it would be a normal for sale post, but I figured maybe it would make someone more comfortable dealing with a new guy if I gave them the option.

You're either a stand up guy or not. If you're not, you won't be on the forum long enough to screw more than one person over in most cases. Post up what you have for sale and if people are interested just be honest and treat them like you would want to be treated. Ebay is for when no one snaps up what you have to sell the first week. ;)

Pics are easy if you use a secondary service. I like Postimage.org because there is no fee, lots of simple cut and past link options and no BS. If you can get an image from your camera to your PC, you can easily upload it to postimages and cut and paste the link into your for sale ad.

question: what are some safe buying practices to make a mutually safe exchange??
Fill out your profile please with your location, at least city and state or city and country if you're outside the US. This helps give context to your posts, but also provides another layer of info when doing business with another forum member.

Typically, I request payment via PayPal before I ship something I am selling. You can choose to only ship to the address in the PP account, which is reasonable. If you screw someone on the forum, it's going to be posted to the forum and to the mods, so that would end up being a one time transaction. Most people are decent and there are few issues when dealing with other forum members. Anything can happen though, so if you think something seems off, use your judgement and common sense.

For any items anyone has to sell, please be sure to start a new thread. This helps buyers find the item more easily.

I'm going to lock out this thread, since its original intention was to simply call attention to the For Sale subform...
