Quick question,

It looks like the factory manual is paper...yes?
I do not like paper, I always use CD and then print applicable pagers, that way if they get greasy I just throw them away and reprint next time.

Is the factory manual available in CD form?

Or am I reading it wrong?

I'd be happy to pay the money for a legit copy - Paper good, Digital better Paper+Digital best of all. I'll check with my dealer (bought my STen a week ago - white/red with Tourance tires, so this is my 'Howdy!' post) but the dealer will probably want me to pay up front and pick it up when it comes in. I'd much rather pay online and have it shipped to my door if there's a good source - does anybody know of one?

I don't see anywhere I can get a legit (i.e. non-pirated/copied) service manual for the 2014 models. Am I overlooking it or has it simply not yet been published? I've bought one with every bike I've had.

Look here:

http://www.yamahapubs.com/

Looks like the 2014 ES service manual is part # LIT-11616-27-59. Sells for $93.

I bought a real manual for my 2012 US spec bike from yamaha pubs. They have two wiring diagrams in the back, one easy to read black and white, and one cluttered color version that I find tedious to read. Unfortunately, the black and white diagram is for a 2008 XT250X. :-(
I emailed yamaha pubs customer service and explained the error, requesting a pdf or hard copy of the correct black and white diagram. They sent back an apology for the error and a pdf of the color diagram. I guess they just don't have the correct black and white guy.
I have found UK pdfs online, but the UK spec wiring has differences. If anyone knows where I can get a US spec wiring diagram, or an email contact with yamaha pubs that will actually try to get me the correct diagram, I'd appreciate it.

The black and white version is easy to read because it's a whole lot simpler than the XT1200Z diagram. Sorry, but you say you have the diagram, yet want a black and white version of it that is somehow easier to read. If it's got all the wiring, it's going to be just as "cluttered" as the color one.

Your error is in thinking you're missing something from your manual. You're not. I have the printed 2012 FSM and it only has one wiring diagram, the color one. I do not find it particularly difficult to read, and it has excellent number identified points that are listed and described on the previous page.

The point is, there is no black and white wiring diagram for the XT1200Z, only the color one. It's far too complex a system for the simple black and white diagram.

The UK manual for the 2010 (23P-28197-E0) has both a b&w and a color wiring diagram for the ST. The b&w is far easier for me to read. The color diagram has thick lines that make the diagram crowded. This is not my imagination! The 2012 US spec manual (23P-28197-10) just has the wrong b&w diagram. It's hard for me to believe that they only made the US changes to the color diagram and not the b&w one.

For reference, my Factory Service Manual, (US printed form, 2012 model year XT1200Z Super Tenere is p/n 23P-28197-10 (LIT-11616-25-09) and has only the color wiring diagram. On the first page it says:

XTZ12B(C)
SERVICE MANUAL
©2011 By Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A.
First Edition, May 2011

The UK FSM is probably printed by Yamaha Motor Corporation, UK and references a different wiring harness, due to several differences, among them the security system, flash to pass, etc. They are not "changes", but distinctly different wiring harnesses, with different diagrams, drawn at different times, quite possibly by different engineers/teams.

I certainly may be wrong, but I don't believe US manuals have the black and white diagram you desire. Mine certainly does not.

This is pretty funny. I have a printed FSM manual I bought from yamaha pubs with the same numbers and same copyright statement as yours, but mine has the color diagram and a b&w xt250 diagram. I bet they were supposed to have a b&w along with a color diagram and when they noticed the wrong b&w diagram was printed, they cut them out after the fact (to avoid complaints from people like me). Both our manuals say first edition. I bet if you examine yours carefully, you'll find evidence that the page just before the color diagram has been removed.

Actually, no, there is no missing or cut out page from my FSM. (I did go look) The last numbered page is 9-4. The back side of that page has the electrical wiring diagram info for each numbered point on the color wiring diagram, which is the next, fold out, page. I ordered the manual from my dealer in May of 11, before they had a p/n for it in the Yamaha system.

Perhaps someone else with a different Super Ten manual can say if they have the b&w diagram you seek. I suspect no one does. To me, it would be redundant. Good luck finding what you want.

I have the same FSM EricV has, purchased from my Yamaha dealer. Only color wiring diagram. No b&w, no evidence of a removed page.

Yamaha factory service manual

Ordered a genuine Yamaha S10 2014 - 2015 edition off ebay.
Ordered from RepairManual.com
This covers the ES AND STANDARD model.
Expensive if you have to get it shipped but well worth every penny.
A lot clearer and detailed than the early 2010 model disc copies floating around.

I can confirm this is a totally genuine brand new Yamaha manual...item code LIT-11616-27-59

Re: Yamaha factory service manual

Wow, expensive.
The owner’s manual doesn’t even cover changing tires and the torque for the axels or how to get to the spark plugs.
Is there a source for the 2015 Super Tenere ES Service manual that’s not so expensive? For my other bikes I was always able to find something floating online for free.

I just "suck it up" and buy the service manuals for all the bikes I have owned. You do not need it but once to have it pay for itself.

Does it have both a color and black & white wiring diagram in it, or just the color guy?
(Yes, I'm still mystified by my 2012 manual having the wrong B & W wiring diagram!)
