I am a newbee to the Super Tenere. I bought a new 19 that so far I am pretty happy with. We just got back from a 1500 mile ride to Central PA. We had rain, floods, wash outs road closures and a fair amount of off road riding that is also new to me. My only criticism with the bike is the excessive engine braking and the off idle surging at low speeds that made some of the off road riding a little dicey.
I am trying to decide on a slip on pipe for a little more noise and performance and I already contacted Anthony for a reflash. Can any of you guys give me some advice on buying this pipe? I do have panniers and I was wondering if the location of the pipe tip makes any difference?
Thanks

The exhaust side box has a metal heat shield on the back of it. My understanding from reading various threads on aftermarket exhaust problem is the turn signal. Too long and not bent down, you can melt one. Yomashira and Two Brothers seem to be popular options.

I think the ECU flash would fix your rideability issues. As for more noise, that's personal preference, I run stock.

I went with the 14” Delkevik and am happy. I run it with the baffle in place and it has a nice sound to it. I have about 5000 mile on it and haven’t had any problems with it melting the turn signal or reflector.

Maybe they had a problem with the Gen 1 signals as they are bigger?

I don’t think it is too loud, and it is quiet compared to any Harley/Cruiser bike that rides up next to me.

You didn't mention, but were you in "S" or "T". It won't effect engine braking, but "T" is a little less jumpy. To the point that if I put it in "T", after being used to "S", the throttle response is so slow that I will stall it off of the line. (which is why I never use "T") For ME, the throttle response, engine braking, and quiet exhaust is perfect. For others....not so much....

If you do put on a louder aftermarket pipe I recommend that you hang on to the old pipe because I have a feeling that one of these days they are going to start seriously cracking down on loud exhaust .
The cops around here don’t seem to bother motorcycles much on road but if you go off road they are very anxious to demonstrate how decibel meters work and write a ticket.

If you want a little extra performance besides what a flash can do, get the Arrow Header. The stock pipe will then sound a little better. You will save a little weight and get better sound with a slip on, but your performance gains will come from a flash and the header, not the slip on.

Good point, though many "louder" pipes are still well within nouse guidelines.

I've got a set of delkevich carbon fibre pipes on my Aprilia that come in around 88 db (measured as track I was riding at is very strict on noise).

Where las I had a zx9r that was well above the limit...

Thanks for the responses. I’ve decided to go with a Leo Vince slip on. The ones I am looking at are for years 2010-2016. I am assuming that this will fit my new 2019?
