Hey guys. I pulled the spark plugs and had a look. Checked all the intake boots and connections. Everything looks great with no surprises. I drained the mystery gas and refilled it with fresh premium, and all seems well with no pinging. It was still pinging on my way to the gas station and stopped almost immediately after filling it up. I guess I can assume it had some bad gas in it at purchase. It smelled ok, but who knows. Alls quiet now. I want to thank everyone who took the time to reply to my post ! Much appreciated.
Huh crazy. Well its good to hear!

I declared victory to soon. Mine still knocks when cold and it sounds like the right cylinder only. When it warms up it mostly goes away but I can get a slight knock when I whack the throttle under load. Maybe a clogged injector making it run lean?

Hi, Woudn`t be the chain tensioner?
I do have a 2013 and after I replace it for a manual chain tensioner, the noice was reduced subtantially.

I just replaced with a manual CCT. Sounds and acts just like detonation and goes away (mostly) when warm. Opposite of what I would expect. I used to adjust my Concours manual CCT to rattle a little when cold so I knew it wasn't too tight and wear out the guides. Afraid to try that on the T10 since it is so sensitive to jumping.

I just took a 100 mile ride and the bike runs fine when warm, I even filled up with regular and no detonation. Seems like the computer adds a lot of ignition advance when cold.

Incase anyone is researching this, what I though was pinging turned out to be the cutch hub. The springs were sloppy loose when cold and I guess they expanded when warm. Sounded just like detonation in the right cylinder. I replaced the clutch hub with 2nd gen hub because of bad vibration at 4.5k RPM.
