I purchased a set of PIAA LED LP530 fog lights directly from Yamaha and they did not come with the plug in harness, just a wiring kit with a relay and switch. So I have ordered a factory plug so that I can utilize the aux wiring plug that came on the bike.. My question is can someone tell me where the wires on the factory plug, black , brown, and red with white strip go to on the PIAA harness which has a white, black and a thin white wire coming out of the PIAA on/off switch.

Any help is much appreciated and I have very much enjoyed this forum and the WEALTH of information I have consumed from it.

I put a set on my bike about 2 months ago, only the driving lights. The older sets were plug and play, it sounds like yours is the more universal kit, like mine was. On the PIAA harness are there terminals on the large white and black wires? These will go directly to the battery. On the PIAA harness the black wire goes to battery negative, the large white wire goes to battery positive and the small white wire goes to the brown wire on the bike's harness. That's it. On the bike's harness, the black is ground, the brown is hot with ignition switch on and the red w/white stripe is hot all the time. You don't have to worry about the red w/white stripe or the black one on the bike's harness. Good luck

Thanks for the quick response, however I want the lights to only come on with the ignition, and I would like to utilize the factory plug instead of direct to the battery.

OK, the brown wire on the bike is hot only when the ignition is on. Your lights will only come on with the ignition on and the PIAA switch pushed to the on position. The battery wires go through the relay.

I appreciate your help but my question remains.......

"My question is can someone tell me where the wires on the factory plug, black , brown, and red with white strip go to on the PIAA harness which has a white, black and a thin white wire coming out of the PIAA on/off switch."

Lots of info here if you search for it...I got most of my info by reading threads about PIAA 530 I had some problems finding the wires down by the tool kit but I just kept moveing some larger parts of the harness and found them tucked in behind other wires.

Here are some photos of my install today of the Piaa 530 kit for the Tenere with the plug ordered from the link above. I cut the ends off of the wiring harness that comes with the light kit and soldered the three wires onto the plug. I attached the relay and fuse to the electrical cabinet at the top front with 3M double sided tape. You can see where the factory plug you plug into at the bottom front. I ran the switch harness to the rear and followed the factory harness up to the bars. The harness going to the lights went through the cowling just above and forward of where the relay is mounted and then the left side harness was run over the tops of the headlights forward of the center post. Then I ran it down through some oversized tubing to protect it and down through the left side cowling to the rear of the left driving light. The right side was just fed through and down to the light with the same protection. I used a single switch mount from Twisted Throttle to mount the switch. Everything works good and no fear of draining the battery. The ignition has to be on for the switch to trigger the relay to turn on the lights.

Greetings team :) I can't find the PIAA Powersports Harness anywhere. I believe it's discontinued (!) Any ideas on how can I solidly wire up my PIAA LP530 kit without PIAA's harness? I would love to have a rig as OEM-like as the PIAA harness (weatherproofed, robust wire covers, etc). The LP530 kit I purchased is the non Super Tenere kit but I do have the Tenere specific lamp mounting brackets. Many thanks in advance!

P.S. I hope the OP and moderators are okay with my resurrection of this thread in this fashion. If not, just let me know and I'll redirect.

* UPDATE * I was able to purchase a new PIAA 85W Powersports harness! okiegtrider's harness was lost in transit to me unfortunately :( Again, thanks for your effort to assist okiegtrider :) I wired up my PIAA lights and the harness without the accessory connector by Electrical Connection. I just wanted to keep the all the parts stock. I reused a 3-pin female connector that I got from a buddy at a moto shop, to connect the PIAA Powerpsorts Harness' hot/ignition wire to the brown wire pin of Accessory Light connector of the bike (#105 per the service manual wiring diagram). I took the female dust cap of the #105 connector off the bike, and to my buddy to make sure I got the right fit.

This a direct to battery connection with no drain that I can measure, and the lights can only be operated with the ignition in the ON position. I also took functional/aesthetic measures to protect the lamp wires, their connectors and to keep everything "blacked out" to make the rig up less obvious. I hope you all don't mind me posting so many pictures, but my hope is that they can help someone wanting to rig up a direct to battery connection with plenty of detail to assist. Those pictures will follow in multiple posts.

PIAA LP530 & 85W Powersports Harness Install (1).jpg
Reused connector I got from my buddy who works at a moto shop. Pulled two wires and left only the bottom wire in place to connect to the bottom (brown wire) pin of Accessory Light connector #105 of the bike's harness.

Filled/sealed up the empty holes of the reused connector.

1/4" protective tubing to help keep mud and sharp debris away. I cut it longer than the lamp wires so that the bulky size of the lamp's connectors would keep the tubing pressed against the back of the lamp.

Lamps installed and their wires hidden/protected by the tubing.

View looking up and underneath the lamps. Lamp-to-harness connectors were covered in high temp electrical tape (ends of tape were zip tied). Wires/tubing is semi-loosely secured to frame using zip ties.

Switch wire zip tied to lamp wires to keep it off the rectifier/regulator (view is looking up underneath the front nose and to the right).

Switch wire and lamp wires bundled in large loops and tucked into cavity area forward of toolkit bag.

All done. Looks good enough to me ;) After a few rides and maybe a wash, I'll pull panels and inspect all connections to see if any adjustments need to be made.

If anyone sees anything I may have done wrong or unsafe, please let me know. Don't want this black beauty to blow up on me unexpectedly! Lol!:D
