Sounds great. I figured it would be way cheaper to get some screws from the local hardware store than pay $2 each for the Yamaha ones.

I look forward to seeing how it goes. ::008::

Didn't even think about screws. But yea, I got tons of motorcycle parts in boxes from farkling for years. Odds are I got em. If not, I will fetch.

I know it sounds crazy, but I can't wait to start the bike with that red rocker switch. It had a really nice feel to it on the FJR. The fellas at my dealer already think I'm farkle nuts. This will be a hoot.

Backordered 4-6 weeks. Not surprised though.
I told em to keep the order live. I'm in no hurry.

But it does mean it will be a while before we know how the FJR cluster works out. Sorry fellas.

Got around to installing my new oem euro 4-way switch. Lifting the tank and removing the air box is definitely the way to go. Looks complete now.

Just install my Euro cluster, it toke me about 3-4 hours. Canadian Tenere is also not plug and play, to work 100% I had to bridge the yellow and yellow/white wires together.
One area was too crowded with wires, to make it easier I removed the top left screw out of the main electrical tray, then moved some of the wires (GPS, lights, heated grips, etc.) to the side temporarily. Thanks AndyCBR again.

I ride moto escort and want to do this install. I have a US bike. Is there a sticky that outlines the whole process. Part numbers, install instructions, where to order etc.

I know I can follow this thread but I am pretty sure I will miss something. Any help will be appreciated

Just ordered/paid for the switch from Japan-
$134 bucks shipped to California, said it will be packaged and headed my way in the next few days.

Will be VERY glad to have hazards, flash to pass will be a bonus. Anyone else wanting one just send him and email with the part number and he will get back to you with price/shipping cost.

Part number 23P-83969-01 I got this part number out of AndyCBR post #103-with a pic of the switch and part number.

No sticky but most of the important info is in the last few pages of this thread. Start with the pic from Andy showing the wires being soldered together. It's the solid yellow and yellow with white strip that have to be fused together. I chose to use a posi-loc connector to connect my wires and I picked a place down by the harness plug end not the switch housing. Also lifting of the fuel tank and removal of the air box is a must if you want to do it correctly and access all the plastic ties. The harness snakes it's way to the right side just above the battery but it is buried. You have to remove some electrical switches out of the way to gain access. A long skinny flat tip screw driver does the trick to unlock these switches or breakers. You will see what I mean once you trace the old harness to where it splices into the bike.

You do not have to remove the tank or disconnect any lines or hoses, just lift it rearward and secure it up. The easiest thing to do with the tank vent lines is pull them loose at the bottom of the bike that way when you lift the tank the vent hoses move with the tank and you won't have to disconnect them from the tank nipples. I use a towel to protect the lip of the tank and a small ratchet strap from the lip of the tank to my luggage rack. Right now Andy's picture is on page 9 of this thread.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but I found both the Kawasaki Versys version of the left side cluster (2009 model year) and the 2013 FJR right side cluster at Bike Bandit, and with my AMA discount, plus free shipping on orders over $99, both clusters came to about $160 shipped....

I'm looking at using both to control hazards (non-keyed) with the FJR cluster, and the aux lighting I plan on adding with the Versys cluster...one thing I do need to know is if the FTP switch is independent of the high-low switch...

If I read this correctly does that mean the emergency flashers worked? I am not concerned about the pass to flash as I am about the emergency flashers working. I escort Triathlons and USAT bicycle races along with carrying ref's or media and really need emergency flashers.

Thanks

I bought a Euro left hand switch from Japan when I was ordering some side panels so the shipping was gratis. The switch cost me about $130 US at the time.

It is not 100% plug and play. I plugged it in and everything works except the flash to pass as there is a white/yellow wire in the connector that does not exist in the US connector (center of top row shown in pics). This space is empty on both sides of the connector in the US bike.

Without both diagrams not sure what it would take to wire from the back end. The white/yellow wire goes back to the flash to pass button on the handswitch. Perhaps there is a separate activation circuit with a diode or something because it is physically possible to activate the high beam switch and trigger the flash to pass button simultaneously.

I'm heading out for a 7k mile trip in 2 weeks so it will have to be a project for another day for me but seems like it is doable if one knows how the euro bikes energize the high beam shutter from the F2P button.

Hope this helps.
Andy

Now I am confused. Do we have a 2 pin or a 5 pin? Do I order an MS-3 like the sales person told me from Kissan or the SM-4 that was recommended here? I have had the Signal Minder on the last 4 bikes. Love them! They work flawlessly for many years and many miles.

has anyone else on here ordered the switch from the japanese yamaha site?
Yep, I did. Installation was plug and play (except for soldering the wires together and routing the harness.).
It arrived pretty fast and now I have emergency flashers a nd flash to pass. Not sure why it didn't come with it from the get go.

thank you for the replies guys. i don't think i will use the flash to pass option. i never used it on my vstrom. the hazard (4 way flasher) option is what i'm really after. i know there are cheaper options out there, but I want to be plug and play as possible
