Well, one year ago on March 1st I bought my sand colored S10. Today I have 22,384 miles on the bike, came with 1.2 miles so you can tell I enjoy riding the S10. And since I appreciate this forum a lot I want to share my personal experience.

Bike looks a bit different now with some luggage and a few accessories.

A few notes. I like the Givi racks and luggage as I move boxes around depending on what I need. However, I do wish the luggage was water tight; leaks a little when mounted on side.

No warranty issues or problems other than four stalls. One stall was on the way home from the dealer with less than a mile or two. Next stall happened before 500 miles. And the other two were back to back shortly after buying gas in Vermont, over 12k miles, and bike was stopped on a hill. I wonder if maybe I had bought some water with the gas. I never have investigated further other than I think the S10 idles "just" fast enough and if you get some water or when the engine is brand new and tight the engine is susceptible to a stall. Oh, and I ride in "T" mode and use regular gas for those wondering.

Mods, just usual goodies such as skid plate (actually took a hit on a concrete structure while wandering under a highway bridge for a pee break). Level seat mod with a bead rider in the high position and I find the seat comfortable. Yamaha tank bag and winglets, PDM electrical box for heated gear, Garmin, and lights. And a few little items such as bar risers, fork seal covers, fairing braces, and grip puppies. And dealer delivered bike with heated grips as part of the deal.

Maintenance. Has been oils and filter along with tires. When I lift the tank to check valves I'll R&R air filter and spark plugs.

Overall I'm very pleased and no regrets on the purchase. Also, compared to my previous road bikes this is the most comfortable with the longest range. My previous road bikes in order of most recent: 2011 FJR, 2007 650 VStrom, 1988 BMW K75, 1986 XL600 Honda, and 1982 VT500 Honda Ascot. And this is my first bike with a cruise control, definitely use this feature a lot.

Enjoy.

One more comment, I sometimes use a Wolfman bag on the rear seat and have found this to work well on trips. Wear helmet and carry tank bag and Wolfman bag into hotel. Use side bags to carry other riding gear such as ventilated or non-ventilated jacket and pants, tools, first aid, hat, etc. If camping, then all three cases and Wolfman bag on seat sideways.

Congrats! You put me to shame. I've had my bike 1 year now and not even covered a tenth of the mileage with it that you have with yours. I plan to remedy that this year. I hope you enjoy many more happy years and even more miles to come. :)

Congratulations on the new Tenere ! I don’t know what’s going on with those stalling issues but I would have taken it back to a dealer while it was still under warranty and got the issue fixed, it’s probably just a simple adjustment.

Cycledude, I would have returned to dealer if check engine light came on or if the bike consistently stalled but not the case. Also, bike runs fine. First two stalls were when almost brand new and breaking in. Other two stalls were approximately 12k miles later immediately after buying gas. Consequently, not a repeatable problem nor how would a mechanic diagnose let alone know a repair was successful. Personally, I wouldn’t have mentioned these four stalls but literally this is the only fault I have had with the bike.

Be careful where you buy gas in the future! I guess that goes without saying. Thanks for the report. Glad I bought mine, you have given me a target for miles ridden the first year.

Dannyv, yes, maybe should be more careful on buying gas as usually buy when fuel light flashing and whatever station is nearby. And have tried different grades and brands of fuel with never noticing a difference. Plus when traveling one doesn't always get a choice.

I stalled often (once a week) when I first bought my 14 S10, always in T mode. Since I switched to S mode, no stalls.
