I am 6' with a 32" inseam and find the bike comfy. That being said I have the Helibars but I also put Grip Puppies on as I found the stock grips way too small. No vibrations but I doubt I would feel them with those two additions anyway.
As for the heat, I do get some but it really only seems to be bad when the fan blows as it seems directed right at your leg. My Honda VTX was way worse, my Victory Cross Country Tour is marginally better, overall it is not something that would stop me from buying the bike.

Not a owner yet but strongly considering the purchase of a 2020 Super Tenere . Currently on a 18 1260 Multistrada s touring , lots of fun although it may get me in trouble . Ride solo a fair bit and Ducati reliability may not be it's strong suit . Which leads me to the super ten . Fantastic rep with comfort to boot . But i have a few questions for the real experts - owners .
Vibrations at cruising or highway speeds ?
Engine heat in hot weather ? Not stuck in traffic but more so once moving again
I'm 6ft 1 with 32 inch inseam how might i find the egros?
Other than those concerns the bike sounds brilliant and more of the type of bike that will meet my long term needs

Thanks
Hi, I have had mine for 10k since August and just love it more and more. I have 0 issues with this bike , but the power delivery is great but dossil. Reliability so far so good

Heat shield I made. Put a piece of double sided tape on the crash bar and a piece of thin rubber floor mat. It knocks the heat off your knee
I have never once felt heat come from where you have the deflector. And I have ridden my bike in 115 degree weather for well over 100 miles.

Can I get your autograph?
I actually have ridden many hundreds of miles at a time in 100+ degree weather. I'm only asking why you are using the deflector? I don't feel heat coming off this bike. Is the heat deflector for some other reason than keeping your legs cool? Is it when you are using the highway pegs only or when you are in proper riding position on the pegs?

For some, heat is in direct correlation to what type of pants are being worn. I never noticed heat off the bike with full goretex vented riding pants. With jeans, sometimes I would notice a little in traffic or stopped at a light when the fan came on. (I rarely rode in jeans on the S10) In mesh pants, it's more noticeable, though never bothered me that much.

Same here. She only heats up in stop/go traffic. If she's moving....fan doesn't come on....so I never feel heat.

You won't go wrong with the Tenere. My opinion on vibrations and heat will not be worth too much. I came from riding big cruisers. I notice no vibrations up to 127 mph. When merging on the highway I find myself in 3rd gear going 70 mph without realizing I'm in 3rd gear. Wide rev. range. I have aftermarket exhaust modified intake and flashed chip so bike to me rides like a dream! As far as heat....worry more about the bike not getting hot enough! When cruising at about 70 mph, the engine temp. (water temp.) shows 167 - 172F. When stopped in traffic temp. gauge shows 213F then fan kicks on, might get to 220F but fan cools it down. I don't feel heat radiating on me. I'm a Texan and thrive in Temps. above 100F....so my opinion is not as valuable. I highly encourage test riding. I think the power of the bike might surprise....I've heard people describe the power as boring....but it is only as boring as one rides it.....Like ANY other bike; you make it your own. Whether it be seat modification. Air Hawk, different windshield, foot controls, risers, performance upgrades, etc. Once you get the bike dialed in the way YOU like...You will LOVE it! The Tenere is less likely to leave you stranded than any other bike in this category and less likely than most bikes in any category. Maintenance is simple (except the valve checks)

I have owned a DRZ400, CBR600, CR125, Versys 650. I have ridden the F800GS, Triumph Explorer 1200, etc and all vibe more than my Super Tenere ( Except for the Triumph).

the S10 has Great suspension, far more power than needed if you feel like keeping your license, and truly and honestly, even surprisingly awesome off road. My Versys 650 felt more top heavy at a stop than my S10.

Like previously mentioned, It's like a tractor! Very reliable. I will say I have 16000KM on mine completely trouble free. Mind you at that mileage it's barely broken in.

This thread comes at a perfect time for me. 6'1" with 34" inch inseam and also a Ducati guy (2010 Hypermotard) who'd been considering bigger Ducs. Certainly put off by the Ducati reliability in newer models and have been stalking the Super Tenere for years now. There's a 2019 ES coming into a local dealer soon and I think I'm gonna go for it.

….Everyone's passion for this bike is impressive....
To be fair, we are biased since it IS our forum and all. BUT....if she didn't do what I wanted....with the reliability that I expect....for a price that isn't stupid....I would have found a bike that did. I don't begrudge anybody choosing another bike, they might have different boxes to check off. I thought I knew a secret that nobody else knew, because I NEVER see another T12 on the road....only GSes. Annnnd, then I found this place, and realized the secret was out. My favorite bike....ever.

I second several of the replies ... I have a 2016 Super Tenere ES... 14,000+ miles so far...the Tenere certainly does not get the plaudits it deserves... it has been absolutely bullet proof... and reliability is my first concern, esp. for an adventure bike...the only concerns I have are: 1.) it is an Adventure Bike, so tall - maneurveing at stop, or at slow speeds is a challenge...2.) the "hard start" problem (you will find it online)... I found that if there is a hard-start problem (usually when very cold), just turn off the switch and on again... and it starts fine...3.) Some report snatchy throttle...I think this is a subjective thing... and adaptation is in order... some go so far as to get a re-flash for this, but I don't think it is necessary... I have owned many bikes, including Honda Cruisers (the last one was an 1800 VTX), and the Super Tenere is the by far the most comfortable of the lot...I have done mostly on-road, with some easy gravel... and some gnarly stuff near Moab on a trip in 2018...

Thanks,

John, you're absofreakinlutely correct on the throttle. Recalibrate the wrist, and have fun. I can not comment on off-road capabilities, 'cuz I'm a candy ass. On pavement....once she's rolling....she feel much lighter....but, picking up 600lbs, is still 600lbs. Being able to use just the back brake makes slow tight maneuvers very easy; bar lock turns are nothing. Reliability? It's a Yamaha....that's all ya' need to know. :)

IMHO
The heat does not get to your body, the fan blows it away from the bike. Unlike a front radiator.
If there is vibration I have not discovered it yet and I suffer from CTS in my right wrist.
You will be disappointed with the engine on a test ride but if you get it flashed you will love it.
The screen needs improving to reduce buffeting at European highway speeds.
The seat tilt mod is a good one - it has enabled me to travel much further in comfort.

Vibrations have never been an issue for me - at any speed.
Same goes for engine heat.
With the seat in high position and maybe bar risers the ergos will be great for you.

I will recommend that you take a long test ride before you buy. The T12 isn't for everyone, and compared to a 1260 it will feel lumpy and agriculture.
Nothing to add to this, Don T has got it in a nutshell although I’m not so sure about his comment on the T12 feeling lumpy and agricultural compared to a 1260 Ducati!

I am very sensitive to the vibes. So before I bought my ST I tested a number of bikes, including Multistrada. The ST is by far the smoothest, very soft vibes. Then comes Trimph Tiger 1200, BMW 1250 GS, Multistrada and KTM Super Adventure being the worst. The vibes of KTM were so bad that the mirror changed its position all the time ...
I am also 6ft and the driving position is OK, I will be installing the Helibars riser this season though. I also have Touratech seat, the OEM was terrible for me.
