Not a owner yet but strongly considering the purchase of a 2020 Super Tenere . Currently on a 18 1260 Multistrada s touring , lots of fun although it may get me in trouble . Ride solo a fair bit and Ducati reliability may not be it's strong suit . Which leads me to the super ten . Fantastic rep with comfort to boot . But i have a few questions for the real experts - owners .
Vibrations at cruising or highway speeds ?
Engine heat in hot weather ? Not stuck in traffic but more so once moving again
I'm 6ft 1 with 32 inch inseam how might i find the egros?
Other than those concerns the bike sounds brilliant and more of the type of bike that will meet my long term needs

Thanks

Vibrations have never been an issue for me - at any speed.
Same goes for engine heat.
With the seat in high position and maybe bar risers the ergos will be great for you.

I will recommend that you take a long test ride before you buy. The T12 isn't for everyone, and compared to a 1260 it will feel lumpy and agriculture.

No vibe issue for me

Engine heat management is well designed. Cooler than any other bike I have owned

I'm 6'6" with 36 inseam and that is the reason I own an S10

You will not have Multistrada power but it is more than adequate.

My 2 cents

I'm 6' with a 31" inseam. I have the seat on low....no problems. I live in Texas....we get hot in the summer. No problems with the heat. To me, she's a wolf in sheep's clothing. Deceptively fast. My favorite bike....ever.

Vibrations no real issues
Cooling system works great
If there is such a thing i would say you are probably the perfect size for riding a Tenere.

I have a '13 S10.
Never encountered vibrations what so ever.
I am currently running Michelin Anakee Adventures which are a 70/30 tire with a low, wide knob tread.
No heat issues ever, this includes brutal stop-n-go NYC traffic during the hot, humid Summer months.
My ECU is flashed so the radiator fan comes on at around 205°.
I am 6' 2", 32" inseam, long arms, stock handlebars, stock risers and seat in low position, ergos right on.
Go for that '20 S10.

Only time heat is a problem is when you are stuck in traffic on a hot day and the fan comes on. Otherwise no problem

As others have said, the under-stressed engine is VERY smooth throughout the rev range

Leg room...I have a 32 inch inside leg like you and ride with the seat in the low position which I find very comfortable. I think if I had the seat in the high position I would need bar risers.

Slightly heavy (because it's built like a tank) but carries it's weight well

IMHO the S10 is an ultra reliable, reasonably fast, good handling and comfortable motorcycle which is vastly under-rated by the (UK) press but YOU need to test ride one to see if it is for you

Hope this helps

Mike

Ergos will probably mean some bar risers and possible highway pegs for touring. You can go 2" on risers w/o longer lines, more than that and you need to replace the upper lines. If you install some crash bars, highway pegs are not too difficult to mount to those with a tube mount stile.

Vibes are minimal on the Gen II bikes, (and were not that noticeable for most on the Gen I bikes).

The S10 isn't as flashy as the Duc, less power, but an excellent power band and torque range for touring. You may find that the occasional double down shift at 50 mph to do a spirited pass is required. Dealer network and reliability are excellent. I put 150k on two bikes, (109/42), and I'm not even close to being the high mileage guy on this forum.

I enjoy the Multistrada Enduro. The designers really stepped up to the plate with the 1200 version, coming from the standard Multistrada, but as feature rich as it is, I simply love the 26k valve clearance interval and shaft drive of the Yamaha. These bikes enjoy the same maintenance of any motorcycle that's ridden, but don't demand it. They tolerate abuse greatly and rarely strand a rider. And owner maintenance is easy.

Please take a moment to put your location in your profile. It gives context to your posts and makes it easier for people to give you more accurate answers should you have questions later. Bonus, you don't have to keep answering where you are located when it becomes a potentially defining issue. (EU bike differ from US bikes, CAN bikes differ from others, California bikes differ from the rest of the US, Euro4 has it's oddities, etc.)

And welcome to the forum!

I'm 6'3" and live in Oz so plenty of hot weather.

My 2010 gen 1 had vibes at the bars at cruising speed. My 2018 gen 2 has no such issue.

You may notice some heat while going slow in hot weather as the radiator is mounted sideways on the left. Never been an issue though whilst moving even on 46 deg C day.

I have a 1" bar riser set and find the ergos are great.

The seat was hard for me and needed some customising. Also raised and leveled. Btw, everyone usually levels the seat.

Good solid bike. My gen 2 is also a lot lighter as it is a non-ES model. A real pleasure to ride.

Gen2 bike, no vibration issues.

Engine heat affecting rider, no issues. Fan is on very quickly once not moving or moving slowly, heat still not affecting rider.

I’m 6,2 with a 32in inseam, have tried the seat high and low, much prefer the lower setting. No comfort issues, bars/arms legs/pegs all good. Wind protection good with winglets and screen top lip thingy.

My gen1 Bike has been 100% reliable, handles well and just gets on with the job. I do think it’s heavy though!

Being totally honest, I wouldn’t buy the Super Tenere again. I never go off road, my market has more choice. I think there’s better all round options out there for my needs.

DITTO THAT! Same height with a slight 'inseam advantage' of 32". I find the low seat setting to be supremely comfortable and it gives me a lot more foot-plant. Central Alabama gets hot as balls! The S10 ain't no Ducati but it's plenty fast for my nerves and highly reliable. Also, I really like the engine note and character with the right aftermarket can.

For the money, it's the best big Adventure bike out there.

If you are a stand up rider then the stock bar position is near perfect. Since I ride mine mostly seated I compromised and got the HeliBars risers. Very comfortable for long days in the saddle.

https://www.helibars.com/products/HeliBars®-Tour-Performance®-handlebars-riser-for-Yamaha-Super-Tenere-2014%2donwards/638.html

And speaking of seats, make sure to level your seat be getting the rubber bumpers. I got more than needed so I can switch from low to hi position without the seat slanting forward.

You need 4 of PN 22W-24741-00-00

Here is the video of procedure. Very simple fix.

Welcome to the forum Biscuit.

Mine vibrates a lot. My left knee rarely ever gets cold, any neither does my bum. At 5’8 or so and I wear 30-32 inseam pants. I like the fit of the bike. You will to.

At 5'11" with the seat in the high position very comfortable.Never incountered any heat issues even in stop & go traffic. As for vibration it's been a long Winter and can't remember it having any that was annoying.Have to say other than adding heated grips. This is the first bike i have not had to spend any money on in the comfort department.Seats good for about 120-150 miles then I need a short break.

I live in Texas and don’t consider heat an issue. Vibration? Not as smooth as a FJR but still smooth.

She's only big & heavy at a stand still. Once she gets rolling, she loses a couple of hundred pounds. And, look at the color in the sun, that is the best blue. (yes, I'm biased. I have the same color)
