Last weekend on a short ride I ran the gas tank low enough to cause the low fuel warning to start flashing, no big deal I thought but after refueling the trip meters and odometer have not returned to the normal way of working. Instead It’s showing three things air temperature, coolant temperature and trip, this Trip is where the odometer is supposed to be but if I turn the key to off then back on the trip miles get automatically reset to zero There is no more total odometer miles.
The reset button has rarely worked properly since the bike was brandnew, I usually had to press it multiple times to reset the Trip meters but now no matter how many times I press it now it doesn’t seem to do anything at all.
Maybe I’m just doing something wrong but so far I have not been unable to figure it out.

First, you realize there are 3 different pages of data on the right screen right? You scroll through them with the up/down rocker on top of the left switch cluster. Sounds like you’ve just inadvertently selected a different page.

With respect to resetting the odometer and other functions, you have to press once momentarily and release the reset button, then wait a split second for the item you selected to start blinking, then while it’s still blinking press and hold the reset button.

sometimes it takes a little time to shift from fuel warning to the "normal" 3 pages. Fuel warning is a fourth page, but it's shown only on fuel warning.
In normal mode you can only switch between the 3 normal pages, which you can personalize.

i went to gas station yesterday andgot the same effekt. it takes about 1km to switch from page 4 (fuel warning) return to the main page of the system. The system is switching after reset to the first Page in Menu, this ist the main page. if you use another configuration you may swith by hand. :)

Cycledude. If you are in the UK and your bike is a Generation 1 model you may well experience the left button actually stop working. Quite a few of us in the UK experienced that and there are threads on here about it.
Yamaha would never admit there was a problem. Interesting that they changed the clocks for the 2nd generation though!!

This time the problems were all my own fault, I hadn’t ridden it or fueled it since last December and rode the Goldwing all winter instead so I kinda forgot how to properly operate what I consider the overly complicated screen. But yes since new the big trip reset button has very often taken many presses to get it to work and I’m pretty sure that issue will never go away Completely. I did buy the extended warranty but hopefully will never need to use it.
THANKS again for everyone’s help !

As Jeff stated, you have to press and hold the reset (I hold it for about 5 seconds) in order to get the mileage to flash then push and release to reset miles to zero.

I don’t like waiting for that 4th page so I just reset that page when I refuel. That makes it immediately disappear.

My old BMW F650GS has a bright light flasher switch, right where the S10 has the menu key. First time on my S10, thought some cager was maybe not seeing me. Flash! Yup, I flashed my menu furiously.
