Hey guys,
I'm Bob West from Lafayette, LA. Just picked up a 2013 S10 and am happy to be a part of this distinguished (?) community! So far, I've ordered a Madstad windshield, Garmin Zumo XT and a side rack for panniers. Unfortunately, I'm finding that ordering panniers is like trying to nail Jello to a tree. Not having luck finding anything in stock as far as hard cases are concerned. I have Wolfman bags on my KLR650 but would prefer a lockable, quick release option.
BTW - One thing I really like about my KLR is the riding position. On the S10, I feel like it sits low and my legs are bent too much while on the pegs. I have the seat in the upper position. Any ideas as far as possibly lowering the pegs?
Anyway, thanks for letting me in and I look forward to learning a lot about my new bike!

Welcome from Texas. I use the OE boxes, and like them. . . . but, probably would go another route if I used them on a daily basis; the locks suck. I like that when they're off, there's not much of a support frame to see. An option to peg lowering, highway pegs mounted to crash bars might be an option.

I have the OE luggage racks that came with my bike but no luggage. Can't find it in stock anywhere. Prematurely ordered a PL2119 Givi rack but can't find those boxes either. Will keep looking.

Have you looked in the "For Sale" section on here? A lot of guys are selling this and that brand of boxes. I got mine local from a guy that totaled his bike on a pig. The problem is, the locks for OE boxes come under the seat when the bike is brand new. If your boxes are gone, so are your locks. . . . unless by some weird chance, the last owner put them back; highly unlikely. If you do get a set of OE boxes, make sure you get a key to go with them.

Will do. Thanks for the heads up.

Non Cajun???

Please educate me... http://www.rsdb.org/race/cajuns

"West" is not a Cajun last name. I was born in Louisiana and have been here most of my life but do not consider myself Cajun. Maybe honorary.

I see. I was wondering what you were trying to say... Not being from the US my first googles came up with some odd stuff affixed to non cajun, such as:

........"however, the word Creole persisted as a term also referring to white Louisianians, usually of upper-class, non-Cajun origin (although, confusingly, even Cajuns sometimes were called Creoles, primarily by outsiders unfamiliar with local ethnic labels)."

and the opposing

....."She thought that Cajuns called each other that because they always had to "work like niggers" to get ahead. My non-Cajun father confirms that until the 60's, the Cajuns in SE Texas (you hardly hear or see anything written about us) were considered to be on the same social level as blacks."

So I was at a loss as to what it meant. Derogatory or non-derogatory.

I was also on the way to bed and I must apologise. In my haste I thought it was perhaps derogatory as, when I scanned this quickly http://www.rsdb.org/race/cajuns I read it wrongly (I read it the wrong way round, which I realise now). Obviously it was not.

Cajun is an abbreviated version of the word Acadians, a group of French people exiled from Nova Scotia in the mid 18th century. If you get the chance to visit South Louisiana, come in the spring. There are many festivals and the weather is mild. Summer can be brutal with the high temps and humidity. You will eat some of the best food you've ever had and the people are generally very friendly.

Welcome from Kansas. You must be long legged. I'm 6 3 and really like how it fits me. Any thoughts on adding more to the seat to get you up higher.
