Noisy cam chain after changing to manual CCT

Hello fellow riders, I have a question about the manual CCT procedure, let me give you a little background:

2013 S10 with 23k miles, did not want to start after 15 days sitting, pulled and cleaned everything ( fuel starvation might have been the issue, changed the inline fuel filters and it fired up ).......so since valve check was due.....went ahead with it, and I'm happy to report, all is well within spec, dodged a bullet there :D

So since I was there, decides to change to a manual CCT, and with the S10 in TDC, changed it, went finger tight and buttoned it all up, started the bike, started right up, no funny noises no nothing, with the clutch pulled so i could finely hear the cam chain, backed up a little, started to hear some chain slap, barely....so started to tighten it....finguer, the with a 7mm spanner.....specting to hear the buzz sound of to tight BUT, no buzz sound, nasty sound, chains slap sound, metal to metal sound........so I backed it out a bit......no noise, just cam chain noise ( as if it was a bit loose ), noisy bitch.....

did I do something wrong? why does it get noisier when I tighten it? I've never had a manual CCT but did not expect this....

Are you sure the CCT is adjusted tight enough? I think you should turn it in all the way until it bottoms out, then back it out a turn or two.

Also, there's a thread here somewhere where someone had a problem with a CCT/ chain which was caused by the chain guide not being lined up properly. IIRC, the CCT plunger was misaligned and pushing against the chain directly. The guide got chewed up, chain went slack, disaster ensued.

When I was re-installing my stock CCT following a valve adjust, I'd just read that post. I heard the chain noise, so took the clutch cover off and using a flashlight and mirror, confirmed that everything was aligned and working right... crank on the bolt to turn the engine over by hand a few times and very everything is traveling right, there's no slack, and the guides are both engaged and aligned right.

Took the clutch cover off, put it on TDC, used my endoscope, removed manual CCT and inspected everythingScreen Shot 2018-10-27 at 11.51.59 PM.pngScreen Shot 2018-10-27 at 11.52.08 PM.pngScreen Shot 2018-10-27 at 11.52.16 PM.pngScreen Shot 2018-10-27 at 11.52.30 PM.png........everything looks fine, everything is there and in place, I'll crank it tomorrow again and listen in, I guess this is a loud engine and I should just get used to it o_O
