Hello all,
My 2015 Yamaha FJ-09 that I traded in on my SupTen had a little slot right behind the windshield where I used to put my phone when charging. Made for it or not that ws the perfect place to set you phone while riding and charging it. But my new SupTen has no such slot. Now I can't charge my phone while riding, not unless either I stop or I have a long cord or something. What do y'all do about this?

I fully charge it, turn off data and wifi search, then it's just a naked phone with low consumption, stick it in my pocket and only look at it when I stop to see if I had a call. It will last 72 hrs like this, if I make and take calls it goes down to 9hrs talk time. I know it does not answer your question directly, but possibly a solution?

Mine goes on a ram mount on my handlebars so I can see who is calling and it works as a gps if desired

Ram finger grip mount on the accessory bar. I use it for my GPS and music connected to my Sena Headset.

I too use a RAM X-Grip. However mine is on an RKA-Luggage InCharge Tankbag.

Power goes into the tankbag and is then distributed from a box inside to as many items as you choose. The iPhone goes on the left RAM X-Grip in the middle I have my SPOT tracker. The right one is wired to a GMRS radio.
I've used this system on two Tenere' and 116,000 miles.

Who wants a phone while riding? Wife made me buy a phone just for emergencies, and that is what it does. I get broken down or whatever, I call. So in other words I never use my phone, so mounting is not necessary. Put in pocket of riding suit and ride.

I read the original post as just looking for a place to set the phone while charging off the bike. I only worry about charging the phone on trips though. I run the Garmin Smartlink app then - which also provides traffic and weather radar to the Zumo so that can burn up some battery. .I run power off my battery tender whip to my tank bag, with a 12-volt socket splitter with USB charging ports - charges my iPhone, go pro camera, usb flashlight/powerpak, etc. I also keep my camelback in there on trips.

I made my own cell phone holder, since I didn't like the clunky look of the RAM mount. The same mount is designed to work on the accessory rail on the windshield mount, so I can move the phone up there if I'm using a tank bag. The outlets are mounted right beside the phone mount, so it's an easy reach for the charging cable and USB charger adapter.

This is exactly what and how the RKA-Luggage In-Charge tankbag does.

Thanks y'all. I never talk or answer while riding either. But sometimes I will go on a spur of the moment ride, errands, go eat, etc and I'll notice my phone is abt dead. So I like t let it be charging while riding so I can talk, text n return such calls when I get t where I'm going.
