Nice memoir from a trucker who shares the road with us. (Not necessarily motorcycle related - but...)

I think there's a degree of affinity shared by those of us who ride motorcycles and our road-mates who drive trucks. Having done a bit of both, I was taken by a book called "The Long Haul: A Trucker's Tales of Life on the Road," and wrote a little review of it here: https://thechurchoftheopenroad.blogspot.com/2019/01/the-long-haul-book-recommendation.html I'm hoping that in the winter months, some folks might pick up this book a enjoy the written impressions from one of the guys with whom we share the road.

I started riding on a 1972 Yamaha CT2-175 at 16 yrs old. Street legal 2 stroke. Then at 17. I started trucking grain. I'm not a trucker anymore but having done both. It gives a lot of insight to the dangers of riding close to a big truck. I've blown tires that shredded the supports off fenders and tore steel trailer supports off and slung sheets of tire rubber in the air. It would kill a motorcyclist. So when you are riding down the highway around a big truck. Passem or let them go ahead on. When you have to ride behind one. Make sure you get eye contact with truckers mirrors and don't follow to close. They can run over a rock or something and nail you.

I read it this past fall. Great book - quick read, highly entertaining and insightful.
