I am new to street bikes and I did the classic. Dropped my bike in my yard. I'm still getting used to the weight and height. Hopefully I dont do that on the road

Dropped mine the day I put the plate on it. Little too eager on the clutch from a starting right. First bike I've ever dropped, but luckily it didn't scratch much.

in seven years I never dropped my tenere ,dropped twice on the white rim trail , if your going to drop it for the first time that's the way to do it..... it was a sand induced crash(x2) , so not really a drop.... so I think I am still good..... never dropped any bike or crashed except off road.

ADV bikes in general take more naps than other 'street' bikes. My first S10 took lots of naps. Getting used to the big girl and doing a U-turn on a gravel sloped, off camber road I mis-judged the need for throttle and stalled it, over she went. Much more comically, I stopped to take a picture on the side of the road, but wanted to angle the shot backwards. My right foot wouldn't touch the ground due to a large drop off from the pavement of about 6". Left foot planted on the paved road. Wife stopped to see what I was up to, I told her to go on ahead and I'd catch up. The moment she left comm range, I dumped the bike over on the right, upside down in tall sloping grass. No damage except to my ego. Got the picture though! Picking the bike up was a careful exercise by myself. A good slip and I'd be down slope about 20 yards quickly. Managed to get it done w/o hurting myself. Wife was quite a ways down the road before I caught up to her...

I've come from a tiny CB650F so of course, second day I rode to my workplace, trying to straighten the bike on the parking spot, I did not notice the side-stand was no longer fully deployed (was still down, but not locked) so as it gained weight, there she went, first instinct is to try and catch her but it is heavy as heck! so I had not other option than to get out of the way and let the crash bars do their job.

There are two kinds of bikers, those who dropped their bikes and those who will drop their bikes. It will happen to everyone and more than once.

I do hate zero speed drops as they are confidence busters, but shit happens. Be thankful the bike has not gotten any damage.
