When slowing down there is really a lot of transmission noise, this comes about when coming off the throttle and sounds like both
Final Drive and gearbox lash, does this become
Less noisy as it gets older as my older version seem quieter.

Thanks
Tony

It is normal also if your using larger windscreen you'll notice the sounds more, heck even the 2 gen OEM screen offers more wind protection so the sounds might be more noticeable if you came off a 1st gen.

Assuming the oil level is correct, it will take quite a few heat cycles to get everything meshing together nicely. BTW, has the 600 service been completed yet?

You have warranty so If you have any concerns whatsoever, talk to your dealer & explain your disquiet.

Get a SENA. (or something similar) I don't know I rode all those years without my "inspirational" music. I couldn't tell you what my bike sounds like on the move, but I know every vibration, and the rpm(s) where they start/stop. Noticed today that the air is thinning out. She has an odd grumble at about 2,500rpm if I apply too much throttle, too quick. Well, today, with the air temp over 100F degrees, the grumble was at about 2,700rpms.

Crazy how some people right w/o music or a com system of some sort. Plus it helps to tune out some of the outside noise.

Feck that ! Too many corners or narrow Hi Ways to be listening to music....cant afford to partially zone out a bit cause a fav part of a track is about to play.
I only know 1 person who rides with music.
People ive known that did ride with music only did for a short time cause they almost stuffed up.

In saying this i have been over to the states just the once and rode my sisters 1200RT from her place (then) DC to Blueridge and back , i can understand the need for something to listen to
gawd there was some looong boring Hi Ways.

Off topic : Rode to Ocean City bike week/rally also, got to ride with some decent folks who took me for day rides around the area, good times.

Well then. . . . I guess it's not for everybody. If my dumbass can multitask. . . . I figured everybody else could too. :D "I" have never allowed music to distract me. But, I have seen the results of those that have. Hell, I used to sing to myself doing cone patterns. Maybe it comes down to what percentage of the brain is needed just to operate the bike. . . . there's not enough left to listen to music. :D Once again. . . . I figured if I could do it. . . .

It's so much a distraction but makes the ride better. Yup helps with the long straights. But I dont like to use it for phone calls unless I'm stopped. Because that it a huge distraction even if its hands free.

Hmmm check out the fluid level of the transmission.. Or drain the transmission and capture the fluid in a clear jar, look for any metal fragments...hopefully none.

If you roll off the throttle to abruptly, it will jerk. When using cruise control, just prior to disengaging the CC, roll on a little bit of throttle and then you avoid the sudden jerk, easier on you as well.

Hi Anthony -

Sounds like you replaced your 2012 with a new bike? If so, the new ones take at least several thousand miles to break in. One of the longest for a bike I've ever seen and if you search the threads you'll see it can take quite a while. Some of us had off-idle engine stalls till the thing had a couple of thousand, then suddenly you realize there have not been any glitches and the bike just runs in a sweet spot.

In my case, it was off-throttle popping/back firing. Then one day. . . . I noticed it wasn't doing it anymore. And, then there's the "5k improvement". Which I believe is programed into the ECU. I was told a story that at a certain mileage, the Dodge Demon puts a message across the "dash" telling the driver that he's ready to race. That the computer prevents full power until the certain mileage. I don't know about the Demon, but it seems valid on the Tenere.

I don't get the inability to listen to music and ride at the same time. If anything music or audiobooks keep me razor sharp on long highway stints where the drone of the bike and wind noise would otherwise have me daydreaming. I can tell you for certain music kept my ass awake at the end of an Iron Butt ride last year. I do shut it off in town or stop and go though.

The description in your first post definitely sounds like something I would also be concerned about.
Has there been any improvement since your first post ? Other than a rear wheel bearing failure at only 45,000 miles I haven’t experienced much of any real trouble in 70,000 miles of Tenere riding.
