New windshield vs old windshield

Hey Everybody,

I went down in Sept and had everything replaced that needed replacing at my local Yamaha dealer (Thousand Oaks Powersports). I was on my first multi-day ride after getting it back and noticed exceptional buffeting at speed (I am 6'2"). The windshield was all the way up, how I normally ride. After getting out the measuring tape the windshield that was installed from the Yamaha dealer, where the repairs were done, is 4 inches shorter than the windshield that was on the bike when I crashed. The old windshield was 21.5 inches tall and the new windshield installed after the accident is only 17.5 inches tall.

I called the shop and they told me the part number they have is the only part number they have for a windshield. I am told by the dealer there are no tall variants.

The part number for the replacement windshield on the bike right now is ECW111TSB. The part number on my old windshield that is is 4 inches taller was 2BS-F837U.

When googling for tall windshield variants I get two results: 2BS-F837U (my old windshield part number) and 2BS-F83J0-00-0 which in the literature says that it is 2 inches taller than the normal windshield. The current part number for the windshield on the bike doesnt appear anywhere, on any website I have searched on. It just doesn't come up as a Yamaha part number.

So my questions is wtf is going on?! Why is the part number on my replaced windscreen not even appearing in searches? On partzilla i type in the ECW number and nothing, literally nothing comes up. When I search for the part number on my old windscreen the results are all from used bikes parting things out. And the results for the 2BS-F83J0-00-0 windscreen are all brand new parts. I just want the same windscreen I had before the accident that looks like it is a stock yamaha option. I would like to avoid a clamp on wind deflector as I am not fond of the look and the previous windshield gave me really great wind deflection around my body. I just do not understand what is going on with these part numbers.

The one from the accident isn't broken but it's scratched up pretty good.

Well, the top picture is a National Cycle screen and model number. The bottom picture is OE Yamaha. The serial/model numbers are obviously going to differ. Yamaha makes a "tall" screen, but it's not the one you had. When looking on Yamaha.com, it shows the following: SKU #2BS-F83J0-V0-00. Which is what you found. I'm guessing if you want to stay with OE that's the number to order.

So, your original model number has been discontinued I guess since a search of the NC site produced no match. The following number, N20321 is current for the Tenere and is 24". The top picture is what was on the bike before the accident. Are you saying it wasn't an OEM Yamaha part?

Oddly they show three different sizes in some of the pictures, but only offer the largest two sizes, and one of them is tinted. I'm suspecting that with the discontinuation of the big girl, they're not continuing to keep up their stock, and just selling off the inventory that they have. The shield that you have/had appears to be the 2nd largest, and is tinted.

Yeah after poking around the site I found the same thing. That big one is 24” and more than I wanted, but was clear. I ended up getting the 21.25” with slight tint. I appreciate the info and help!
