Sup guys. Just got a New 2018 Super T ES for 14800 out ther door. I've already upgraded the Lights to Cyclops leds and love the legs on this thing. Rides great on dirt and Road. Can't wait to take it on the beach and ride the coast a bit. I got it for a Key west to Prudhoe Ride next year. Never done any off road riding. Any good resources or books that yall can recommend? Any who. thanks all for the collective experience on this website. Been lurking for a while.

Welcome to awesome. In all respects!
In terms of offroading - i would look up MSF dirt bike/ off road courses near you and take that - you use their bikes mostly and learn how different offroad handling is as compared to street riding and then practice on some Forest Service Roads. You will gain confidence over time.

Walnut Spring seems to be the nearest.

Welcome aboard 240xsorty and congratulations on the new Tenere ! My first big trip on a Tenere was to Prudehoe Bay, was gone 21 days and it rained everyday, the day we rode to Prudehoe it rained all day long and we were spinning climbing the big pass just north of Coldfoot, I was very worried that we might not make it to the top but luckily we did. The next morning it was freezing rain and snow in Prudehoe that was supposed to last for the next three days. Because of the weather we shipped our bikes to Fairbanks and bought airplane tickets to get ourselves down there. Other than the miserable weather it was a pretty good trip.

Fuckin wow. Rain I can handle. Cold I can handle. Rain and cold? I'm a little bitch. I work as a tech with AT&T and it rarely gets down in the 30s here in Houston. I can't imagine how low it gets up there. With the rain going too?. That's some craziness Ive ridden in 30 degree cold once. Adrenaline helps.

Congratulation on new bike, but wait with off-reading until you'll know bike better.
It will be sad to crash it still brand new and crash you will :)
