Many bikes do have known weak rectifiers and prone to failure. However the Tenere is not one of them. Actually the Tenere rectifier is the proven and common upgrade replacement part for many other bikes.

Out of all the bikes I have owned, I have never had a rectifier go bad. Don’t think I will be ordering one to potentially creat a problem that doesn’t exist.

Me and my buddy got off work at a beer warehouse in 84. The boss gave us an icy 6 pack. We got on our bikes and rode down to the road to a shady spot to killem before they got hot. While we were sitting there. I noticed some smoke coming from his newish Suzuki gs 550. He ran over and popped the seat. His rectifier was melting down. Poured some beer on it and went and got the truck. It would still run.

Sounds like you rectified the problem.
