Hey all from the OKC area. Sold my 2009 GL1800 Goldwing, an awesome bike but wife wanted to quit riding. Put 50k miles on it in 5yrs., Many great trips.
I'm seriously considering a Tenere as I like an upright riding position. I'm 6'2", 34 inseam, I have never ridin one though, just sat on it. No shaft drive on the Kawasaki Versys 1K killed that one for me. I usually buy used, looking for a 2014 or newer but rarely find one for sale. Even new ones are hard to find at dealers. I'd ride on the street 80% of the time, don't know if I'd really need the ES model. Been doing my research and I'm a wrench, have a table lift in my garage. Has to be easier to work on than a Goldwing.

The biggest deal about the ES is the adjust on the fly suspension. Preload has to be set prior to taking off, but the fine tuning is an "as needed" adjustment that does not require stopping. The ES also comes with heated grips. The rest of the bike is essentially the same. My OE saddle boxes can hold 24 12oz cans easily; my neighbor can't do that with his 'Wing. His bags are bigger, but shaped WAY different. Good luck on your search.

Welcome. You and I are the same size. The tenere fits me like no other bike I had. I to bought mine used and loaded. I think that is the best way. Let someone else pay for the accessories. Good luck with your search. It to me over a year of being patient to find my 2015. Have enjoyed every mile so far.
