My name is Jeff, I live in Tampa. I am a retired Sheriff’s Office Sgt./Law Enforcement Pilot. 38 years of service. I just purchased a new 0 miles 2017 Super Tenere ES for a trip I’m planning to Alaska/Artic Circle. I also have a 2013 Honda Goldwing and a 2008 Suzuki DL1000 Vstrom that I completed the USA 4Corners ride on last year, no interstates, all back roads. I’ve been riding for 50 years and have owned 37 motorcycles. Looking forward to being a part of this forum.

Welcome aboard. It appears we have identical bikes; also as a retirement gift to myself. The Cobalt in the sun is magnificent. As you'll find out, this bike will continue to surprise you every time you ask it to do something new....and it does so....easily. Sport bike, dirt bike, tour bike....she'll do it all.

It was a retirement gift to me also, just a couple years late. So far I love it, the engine does sound a little noisy around 2800-3000 rpm is that normal, otherwise it’s perfect. Now to get it outfitted for the big trip to Alaska.

To tell the truth, I ALWAYS ride with my SENA. I don't hear the engine, but I feel it; never complains. It will never be as smooth as an inline 4 cylinder though.

Yea having a Goldwing and V-Strom 1000 I’m used to smooth, the Tenere is very smooth just a little noisy, I also use a 20s

Congrats on the new '17 and welcome from metro Seattle, Jeff!

You'll find the Tenere engine a bit "industrial" sounding compared to many bikes. Make sure you're wearing good ear plugs and turn up the tunes...that makes it all better! Maybe see you on the road this summer. A couple of us are leaving Seattle for AK and points north in late May.
