Purchased a new 2017 Super Tenere' last year and plan to do some touring through western Canada and USA and possibly South America. Didn't get a lot of riding in last year due to 4 wheeler accident. I am an experienced in motorcycle sport touring,
have ridden Kawasaki concourse14 around all the great lakes and throughout the northeast USA and Canada.
Looking to learn the good and bad of the S10. Needed accessories etc. Have added Brooks Motorsports panniers top rack and top case, and Madstad windscreen. Welcome input from anyone that has loomtoured with the S10.

Welcome from Texas. I too have a '17 (Cobalt). I don't have any complaints with mine. Some say she's too heavy. Other's will tell you the throttle's too twitchy. I'm not one of them. :)

Welcome to the board, and welcome back to riding after a 4-wheeler accident. I also got to experience one of those, and they can be pretty significant.

You'll quickly get used to the responsiveness in sport. Touring mode is for low traction pavement, or downtown city riding only. At least that's the only time I've found it helpful.

Tenere is a great touring bike. I suspect you'll come to appreciate it.

Hello from western South Dakota. I can't give you any tips on touring as I have only had mine for a couple of months but it sure grows on me every time I ride it. It is a heavy bike but that disappears the minute it gets moving. I have a 31" inseam and have to run the seat in the low position to flat foot the ground when stopped. The throttle on mine is twitchy but you get used to it and after a time you forget about it.
I came from a cruiser background the last few years and this bike is a lot different. I also have dirt bikes and find the ST1200 a lot like a big dirt bike.

Welcome aboard, especially after your 4 wheeler accident and recovery.

It'll help to put in your location. For example, the Canadian bike gets a red chipped key that we in the US do not.

There've been two generations made over the last 10 years (hard to believe) so just about any accessory question you can think of has been discussed multiple times. Search is your friend.

Welcome. The Ténéré is so much safer than a four wheeler. ;)
After tearing both shoulders and breaking my right hand in two places and right wrist from flipping a 4 wheeler I have decided to stay with my moyorcycles and just tour as much as I can.

Welcome to the club. About the only thing I would add at this point is a skid pan and crash bars. Lots of threads on them, then ride for awhile and see what you want to buy from that.

That's what I learned the hard way. You tend to separate from a motorcycle in a crash. When you crash on an ATV and it will chase you down and try to kill you.

I was looking at Rumbox, but they are not producing product at this time. Looked at Altrider bars and skidplate as well as Trex combo crash bars / skidplate. I have been reading through the posts and checking out each of the different suppliers.

Unfortunately, I'm not surprised. I'm sure it gave your daughter a good scare. I know the guy riding with me when I ended up under the ATV was convinced he had watched me die.

The Tenere is much safer than 4 wheels. It will be a great touring bike for you. I still have friends and family in the Rochester area, and love to ride the Adirondacks as often as possible. You have wonderful (summer) riding not far from home. You've picked a great bike.

Welcome. You'll have a great time touring. It's a very comfy, capable long distance machine. i toured your neck of the woods last year a bit (Finger lakes, ADK park, etc) and made a long awaited trip to the Glenn Curtiss museum.
Enjoy your new ride!
