New member in UK

Hi all.
Just put a deposit down on one of the last XT1200Z models left here in the uk. Don’t know yet when I’ll be collecting it, but it’ll give me plenty of time to read all things S10. A good mate has had one for a few years, but I’ve resisted till now. New, pre registered deal was so good it made any second hand purchase look very expensive. So when it arrives it’ll be joining my old BMW R850GS, ST1300 Pan European, 02 CBR1100XX Project, and FJR1300. Oh and my old CBR600 Castrol Honda track bike.
Something will have to go as I’m out of room in the garage. The FJR is a farley recent purchase as a replacement for the Pan, but the wifes undecided as to which she prefers, and they’re more for her than me, so she gets to choose, as I need her to be happy.

Welcome from Texas. "My" opinion: if you do more city riding, keep the Pan. If you do more open and/or curvy roads, keep the FJR. It all has to do with the steering input for me. There are many former Pan/FJR riders here; self included.

Hi Bmwdumptruck, another welcome for South Wales! I guess you are on UKGSers too? I was faced with a choice between an FJR and a ST1300 with Mrs LongdogCymru getting the deciding vote. I got the ST1300. Good luck on choosing which one of your garage will have to go! I think you are going to enjoy your new S10!

Thanks everyone. Yes I’m Littledumptruck on ukgser, havng had the smaller old 850GS for over ten years now, I thought it a better title. No idea when ill get the S10, they’ve only just found it amongst the 700 bikes in the warehouse!! Not really replacing the Pan or FJR, one of them is for the wifes conveyance, but my latest thinking is i’ll sell both and get a newer Gen3 FJR eventually(not till after this summers highland holiday though). The S10 will be too tall for the wife, having had a twin cam 1200gs we know she struggles to get on and off tall adventure bikes, plus I sit too upright and therefore too close to her. She is only 4’10”
She really wants me to get my Blackbird sorted, loved the power and ride of that one. But that‘s waiting for that rarest of commodities .....spare time.....
pics will be posted if i can ever work out how to without using a host. Don’t do hosts.
last bit, question, which section is for stupid newby questions? You know, the ones that’ve been asked a hundred times already?

Gen III FJR? Cool. It was my understanding that it was gone for good. It really doesn't surprise me all that much. It has been resurrected a time or two.

I think we call the refresh in 2013/4 Gen3. I really like the candy red version, that would be my ultimate choice, but there’s very few here in the uk.
