It's a good, solid bike. It was a very good replacement for my RT1150. I can't believe Honda did away with it, and replaced with what they did. Tons of RT1150s were being replaced by ST 1300s. It has better/lighter slow speed handling than the FJR. But, the FJR's high speed handling is fantastic.

This thing is not good above 115 lots or rearend sway. Its not the tire either. Guess its a known issue on these? If I would have been actually shopping I would have picked the FJR 10 times out of 10, but just fell in my lap for almost nothing. Its solid 2up and way more comfortable for the girlfriend on a quick ride lastnight. So maybe score me some points and keep it for a little while.

Nice. Year? Mileage? I miss mine.

2004 it only has 5000 miles on it. It seems like a good bike, nice slow speed handling like @Sierra1 said. U turns on my street were quite sharp.

The rumors about the stability at speed seem to be centered on the rear trunk being installed as the cause. Take it off and give it a try.

And only 5000 miles? Not even broke in.

The ST1300PA has a fuel shut off at 120mph. There were SO many times that I was keeping it at 119mph. Rock solid.

Before the switch from BMW, I did some reading on the instability. It was narrowed down to motor cops in the UK that were having the biggest issue. Apparently, there was an electronic message board that was installed on the back. They believed that it was acting as a lifting mechanism. They lost one officer at high speeds, causing Honda to put the 120mph limiter. The one I rode was a 2011, but I don't think there was any changes to the bike. . . . other than the Gen 1 to Gen 2 mods. It did have the trunk that replaced the passenger seat.

I was 2 up at the time so that should have blocked most air flow issues with the trunk, but Ill give it a whirl. Thanks for the tip! Would be nice to not have to worry about it as Im back working 106 miles round trip a day and plan on putting the miles on this thing rather than the S10

Only thing I recall off the top of my head is the electronic windshield was new in 2004 thats kinda a pointless thing to me but I know some people are all about them.

I had an '08, and never had a high speed problem with mine. Dang thing is fast, and smooth. Clever having the retractible handle on the left side for putting in on the center stand.

Those are great highway bikes for a long commute and the red looks great. Got to try one a couple of times when I had an FJR and liked it a lot.

As Hansen said, try it at speed without the trunk, because I too remember that was the cause of the instability.

Yes I definitely wish the Tenere came equipped with a decent handle to use for putting it on centerstand

106 miles roundtrip? I know the Vegas valley isn't THAT big!

I had the exact same bike. I noticed the unstable feeling when the top box was mounted and the passenger seat empty. Putting a passenger there or even just a sleeping bag or seat pack there would completely stabilize the bike as would just removing the top box. It's also important to set the suspension correctly. With too little preload on the back, I think the wind pushes the bike back on its rear suspension, lifting and lightening the front too much. In the end I had Race Tech install a 1200 lb (vs OEM 800 lb) rear spring and revalve the OEM shock which pretty much eliminated the problem for me.
