New Battery woes?

It looks like this one is only sealed, not AGM, and only 200 CCA. Good luck!
Its says its AGM. But like Sierra said who knows? What do you mean by only 200 CCA? The Yuasa 14s is 230 ($140). The factory 12s battery is 210($120). I must be missing your point here.

I have no doubt that the Yuasa battery is better, my original one last 6 years. I just figured I would give the cheap battery a whirl and if it goes over 2 years Im ahead of the game.

Personally, I think Yuasa may be resting on THEIR laurels; like so many other companies. I had a Yuasa in the ST1300....on a tender each night....didn't last two years. The Odyssey battery used prior to the Yuasa lasted three years, but cost over $300.00. The OE AGM that came in my Tenere has lasted the longest, with the least maintenance, of any battery I have ever used.

The longest lasting motorcycle battery I ever had was a cheap Scorpion AGM in my ST1300 that went 10+ years. I rode that bike very regularly and I think that makes a big difference. The battery didn't show any signs of weakening until I started letting the ST13 sit a week or two at a time while trying to ferret out a misfire problem.

I agree. More or less the same results as a Tender. The Beemer had a two battery set-up (regular & deep cycle). The Honda was a single battery; too much load for one regular battery. The Odyssey was my first experience with an AGM battery. I'm not sure if the Yuasa was an AGM or not.

It does SAY that it's AGM; as we know, not a guarantee. I'm with Kyle....$40.00....use my Tender....definitely worth a try.
Replaced my 5 year old OEM with that one 2 months ago. I agree if it is still good late next spring I am ahead!

My OEM Yuasa 14s is seven years old and still seems fine (I shouldn't have said that out loud :) ). I've never used a battery tender on it, and the bike gets used for two or three 65 mile round trip commutes per week. I used to use a tender on my VFR750, and Yuasa batteries wore out faster on that bike. I'm not saying there is a connection, but I'm not convinced a tender actually increases the life expectancy of a battery unless it sits for a month or more at a time.

I just followed the Amazon link you posted and the battery in the picture only said sealed lead, not AGM, and the description listed 300 CA and 200 CCA. Perhaps I got the wrong battery (but it was $40)

From the amazon link...it says its AGM
  • TOP TECHNOLOGY: The Acid inside is constructed with Absorbed Glass Mat technology allowing for a low-maintenance and spill proof battery. Patented sealed post prevents corrosion, which gives extended battery life
Ill ask again because I have no idea what you are trying to say about the CCA. Is there something wrong with 200CCA? I'm confused why its a bad thing when the factory is 10higher. Its hard to read intentions through text alone sometimes so Ill make it clear. Not trying to come off like an ass or confrontational I'm asking a question because I do not get what you are trying to say.

Yeah, THAT is kind of sketchy....to me....pros chime in....but the 200CCA is for Fahrenheit, and the 300 CA is for Celsius. I know that batteries have always been rated for cranking amps, and COLD cranking amps. But, I've never seen the Fahrenheit V. Celsius before.

CA = Cranking Amps are measured at 32º F. CCA = Cold Cranking Amps are measured at 0ºF.

Some battery sellers try to confuse the buyer by listing the CA, when most of us are comparing CCA. If the stock Yuasa battery has 210 CCA and the Yuasa 14S has 230 CCA, why would you buy a battery with a lower CCA rating?

Ive also never seen it used in that way. I think they were trying to do freezing and hot amps and something got lost in translation in the art department. 32c for the hot and 32f for the cold? Just someone forgot to do the C/F swap.

Could be, but cold cranking amps is tested at 0F. Cranking amps is tested at 32F. I'm assuming that the battery is manufactured in China, due to the price, and THAT's where it got lost in translation. Although the returns are handled here "in the heart of America". I'm still probably going to try it, at that price.

I currently have a the Yuasa YTZ14S for going on 3 months and it has worked flawlessly. I have a GPS wired to run off switched power and Rigid D-series pro driving lights that operate off a handlebar switch. I purchased mine from Battery Warehouse for $110.00
In the past I ran a Odessey for 8 years on my Vmax which I killed by storing it with a parasitic USB device which I was able to recharge to close to 90% (guess) but it only lasted for 3 more months after that. The purchase price was around $120.00 if I remember correctly.
