Since my wife only rides on the Goldwing, I removed the rear seat from my 2017 S10 and fabricated a plate to fit in its place on top of the factory plastic plate under the pass. Seat. I purchased a 12x12“ 5/16“ aluminum plate and shaped it to size and shape I wanted. I then welded up a bracket from 1/8” steel for the front mounting support. I used the two original mounting locations for the rear, I just had to make some spacers to fill the space and get some longer bolts. I then cut 4 slots for tie down straps using my router table and a 1/4“ straight cutting bit, taking small passes until it cut through the plate. After all fabrication was complete I glass beaded the items and powder coated everything satin black to match the panniers. I then applied a piece of GatorSkinz nonskid mat to the plate to keep items from sliding and also scratching the plate. I think it came out pretty good.

Looks nice. I do know the plastic piece under the rack scuffs easily.

Looks great. That's very close to the base plate of fuel cells that several people run. First thing I did when I rode the bike home was take off the grab handles, rear seat & rear rack raising piece so that I had a flat platform from the rider seat all the way back. Shortly there after I had a custom 4.8 Gal. flat bed fuel cell mounted there.

I also took the grab handles off but had a hard time putting it on the center stand without them when the bike was loaded, so I put them back on. The bottom of my roto pack will rest on the plate, the mount will be attached to the front of the top case helping to keep, the weight a little lower. It will still give me room for a dry bag on the plate. Hoping to ride to artic cir. In July, was supposed to go last July but couldn’t due to COVID 19, hope I can make it this year.
