start by checking fuses, most likely they have protected you, So pull the fuses in ? and tone across the fuses.. this will verify they r not the issue...

You said "fuses" so I'm taking that to mean you checked all the fuses in the fuse panel, but did you check the 30A main fuse on the starter relay, that's the fuse for the whole system.

I feel like one lucky SOB (stupid but lucky)!! I finally consulted the book & found that the Main fuse is under "cowling B", which is above & forward of "cowling A", the one you remove with 4 quick fastener screws. To remove cowling B, first take off cowling A, then 4 allen bolts & 2 plastic quick fasteners (probably have to replace them, because they'll be destroyed when you cut or pry them off). The 50A main fuse is behind B ... and that's what blew when I reversed the leads on the new battery. It starts! Problem solved!! Thanks, guys for all your help. ::26::

Congrats and whew! If you first push in the center of those plastic pins in they will release without damage, most of they time they'll fall out into your hand if the bike's on the side stand. No need to pry and break them as you risk breaking your much more expensive faring pieces too. When you put them back in place the center button in a raised position, insert the pin into the hole and then press the center pin flush. Should secure with a click.

Thanks, WJ -- I've kept a supply of those quick fasteners; didn't know to push the pin in further.

Imagine what that fuse might have cost you if you took it to the dealer... ???

Hi,
Hope youll se this message
I made the same mistake with reverse battery. But when this happend I hear a noise like electric motor running or fuel pump. Not shure. Did you hear that too?
So, I replace the main fuse and two other. When I try to start the engin its cranking but wont fire. I hope its just engine overflow.
So, now Im realy interested if you also hear a noise like fuel pump at reverse battery.
Thank you.

A lot of people rotate the batter incorrectly when replacing it. Red is ALWAYS the + positive terminal.

You blew the main fuse. Find it, replace it and see how that goes. Odds are that's the only issue, if you're lucky.

samczy10 - Did your gauges come back to life and everything appears normal after you replaced the fuses and attached the battery correctly?

If so, it may just be flooded. You can pull the fuel injection fuse and crank it until it tries to fire, popping, then reinstall the fuse and try again. Make sure the battery is fully charged or you jump start it from another vehicle.

If your gauges didn't come back to life, there may be some other issue that still needs to be addressed. I have no info on the noise you heard.

Didn't the OP say something about a pump noise at the beginning?

The pump won't care about polarity. The ECU and LED lights sure will though.

Hi,
Everything looks normal. I hear Fuel pump at beninning, gaugs are initializing normal, even lamps going off at beginning, no error codes. Just waiting for start.
And yes I pull the FI fuse and crank a bit. No difference. So for the last secuence I repeate cranking without FI fuse and leave it. Its cold now, 0 deg cels, wana go easy with him. ;)
Ill let you know how it goes.

It's a live. Temperature today rise to 10 deg C, so I try. I think it helps when I first crank without FI fuse and wot (alvays WOT). So engine blow and burn fuel inside. It fire for a split of second, like it wana start. But when I plug the fuse back in, nothing, just empty spinning. Then I crank it without FI just for 3 seconds, couple of times and a minute pause between. When the last time insert fuse, it starts. So now I know how to blow excess fuell from engine if happend on a trip.
I check the electrical sheme, the bike has smart design to protect it self. It happend to me when installing battery in a low light garage, so the shadow on battery sign fooled me. I admit, its living, we always make stupid mistakes. Im in electronics and quick superficiality can make us in trouble.
Im thankful for this forum and guys who responded to my question.

Glad you got it sorted out and the bike is running. Thanks for posting your final results. It may help someone else later on.
