I being riding my S10 and since day one (about 2 months) I noticed that she does not like to run in any gear when rpm are lower than 2500, the drive line starts jerking.
I noticed that when above 2500 is just great.
Any comment?

This could be a number of things... check for exhaust leaks at the header manifold and muffler junction. It might need the throttle bodies balanced. There are many reports of the coils failing with high mileage. As for your clutch question... the 1st Gen bikes have a sub-optimal basket that causes noise, vibration and some have broken springs.

And OCD= Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

You really shouldn't be cruising in any gear below 2500 rpms. That's quite low in the torque curve for this engine. 3k is more reasonable.

I can poke along at idle in 1st, but that's basically very little load. In 2nd, it's not happy below 2500 rpms and there isn't a reason to be in 2nd then, 1st gear and higher rpms are better for that speed. IMHO in any other gear, you should be gearing down, not trying to cruise at sub 3k rpms. You're lugging the engine. Remember, the transmission is a torque multiplier.

Yeah it's not a very torquey engine. Carries on a bit under load when the revs are low. I also notice it seems smoother at lower rpm with the oem exhaust rather than the noisy one I have fitted. Not a great drag off the lights bike.

By contrast, my ctx1300 v4 was like an electric motor and pulled smoothly from idle.

How many miles are on it, and on it since the last tune-up?
If it's getting that doggy, it might be time to think about a tune-up.

1st 2nd 3rd shouldn’t be a problem.
Sounds like you need ecm tune

mine must be running much better than I think it should then. The acropovic muffin’ made a world of difference at low rpm.

There are some valid points to consider that have been touched upon in this thread so far. Stock or not? And two big pistons have more mass individually than 4 smaller pistons. My inline four bikes were perfectly happy to putz along at rpms well below the normal cruising range in higher gears than the S10's big parallel twin engine is.

Tune up stuff is relatively cheap and easy to do. Certainly worth exploring before tossing bigger $$$ at the bike.

When I'm having the joy of being stuck in stop and go traffic, I'll try to idle in first gear at 8-9 mph and avoid shifting. If speed gets over 20 I'll go ahead and move to 2nd, but if it drops back down below that it's more work to keep things smooth and I will drop back down to 1st.

Hello Pilleway. I have not seen it mentioned in this thread but turning out the bypass screws on the throttle bodies really helps the issues you are having below 2500 RPM. I did not see where you mentioned that has been done. My bike was no fun at all to ride till i did that. It will pull smooth all the way down to about 1200 to 1500. It made parking lot riding and such a breeze. It also took the surge it had running with very little throttle applied trying to hold a steady speed in town. there is a whole lot of information on here about setting that if you think that will help you out. I have mine set out a lot further than the forum suggests but it is working well for me.

I'm with Eric. I spend plenty of time at just under 10 MPH in 1st with no problem. I do tend to be easy on the throttle below 3,000 RPM, but I don't have any jerking drive line.

I was thinking about this thread while commuting today. Plenty of riding under 2,500 with no issue. Bike is a Gen2 with around 31,000 and not had the 27,000 tune-up yet. (Been busy)
