Hey
You got my attention...
How did you win it such a beauty?!?
Every year the station would partner with a local dealership and coordinate a giveaway. This was the first year they partnered with Ducati. Usually they partner with Harley.
Anyway, you were able to enter to win daily, either by being caller #x when the station announced it or you could enter by going to the dealer and filling out an entry. I worked around the corner from the dealer so I would walk by every day at lunch.
I got selected as a finalist and was invited to the final contest which was basically just a highest card drawing. I won with the Ace of Spades... Lemmy from Motorhead would have been so proud.

I eventually sold it and bought a brand new Ducati Monster 1000 which was more comfortable and fit my riding style better.

Back in 2001 when the Honda GL1800 first came out there was a Casino about 100 miles from my home that was giving away one per week for a month. So every week I rode down there hopping to win one. I always went to the restaurant in the Casino to get something to eat while there. Well about the third week I was eating in the very full restaurant when this older fellow came walking through by him self looking for a place to sit down so I invited him to sit at my table, he was a 68 year old farmer still milking 80 cows, we had a nice conversation. When the drawing started I told him I had to go watch. Well the next thing I know there’s the farmer up on the stage with 2 other contestants , it was a elimination thing and the farmer wound up winning a brand new GL1800 ! So I stuck around until I could get a chance to shake his hand and congratulate him, I also wrote my name and phone number on a piece of paper and told him to call me if he wanted to sell the bike, well about 2 weeks later he called and we made a very nice deal.

One of the reasons to be nice to people. Ya' never know who you're talkin' to. My youngest and I started talking to an older man at the gym. Long story short, he was my benefactor in the way of firearms. Fascinating man. He was a retired US Army warrant officer with some incredible stories, and firearms.
