I did a search and didn't find anything so I am creating this thread. I was hooning it up chasing a group of FJR riders this weekend in Southeast Ohio. When I got back to the hotel someone pointed out that I had a fairly large (i.e. 2 inchish) lateral rip on the left side on my tire in one of the outside sipes. I also discovered a few smaller (i.e. 1/4 inch) tears in the left outside sipes. I presume it is because I was pushing the tire so hard. It was inflated to 40 PSI.

I "repaired" it by filling the tears with JB Weld. The JB Weld held! I will be looking into other tires in the near future (more street-oriented for hooning it up). Anyone else have similar experiences/issues with these tires like this?

Also, any recommendations on what tire(s) to replace them with?

Dang, I wish I would've taken a look at those tires at the hotel last weekend. I've been thinking of trying out those tires for a while although I'm currently running the Bridgestone Trailmax Missions and I'm very happy with them.

I really like my Dunlop Mission tires. The reviews have been good. People have been posting 10 to 15 thousand miles regularly. There have been some outliers that claim 20k.

My experiece has been positive. 2 or 3 k into them. Dry they are sure-footed. I can handle the twisties just fine. I was worried about wet traction, it's been good. I like the look and the trie is good at handling gravel wash in the turns. Have a set of MICHELIN with a hundred miles on them. I pulled them off. They slid out way to easily in turns that had some gravel wash.

I do a few fire roads and gravel roads. Thinking about the eastern back road discovery route.

I have actually seen what your experiencing with the Tractionator GPS, I believe they have been known to do that. They are a great tire but if you push them hard on tarmac the soft rubber compound will crack and tear at the base of the lugs.
I use the Mitas E07 have never experienced an issue other then road noise and rougher ride then my street oriented tires.

I've had small cracking on the Tractionator GPS' I've run, but nothing large.

Were you doing high sustained speeds? I've given mine plenty of workout on the sides, they do slip fairly easy like the E07's when pushed while leaned over.

I experienced small cracking on the rear, reported the tyre to the importer here in South Africa who in return sent a questionnaire request km's ridden on tyre and pressure in tyres. A few days later they sent me a replacement tyre free of charge. Very awesome tyre for touring and longevity, this set im on now has 26 000Km on them and the pair i had travelling Africa had 22 000Km not one puncture. Great tyres.

That's what I meant when I said "hooning it up". I was chasing FJRs in the twisties of Southeast Ohio.

im surprised that you have not found anything in your internet searches. I have run the tractionator GPS and the adventure. i did not have any sideway problems but both tires developed cracking in the treads. im not sure why you did not add a picture though

I experienced the same issue with MOTOZ Tractionator IT's. I have them on my DRZ400. They are awesome tires, great off road traction in all conditions and decent on road, even in the wet and decent tread life, but due to the cracking around the rear tread blocks I won't be buying them again and will not buy MOTOZ for any other purpose. It's a shame, they are really impressive, but a failure in the exterior carcass is not acceptable to me.

Same here. I'm done with them.

I was looking for something that performed a bit better than the Dunlop Mission off-road, while still doing as well as them on-road. Looks like I'll pass on the Motoz, unless I'm doing a BDR.

Thanks for saving me some money, as I like to push it a bit in the twisties!

They will probably replace it.
