Some really sad news as one of Europe's best motorcycle museums - the Top Mountain Motorcycle Museum in Austria - has been devastated in an enormous fire. It's not thought anyone was injured but the large collection of classic bikes is understood to have been destroyed.

Very sad indeed.

One has to wonder quite how this could happen on a freezing cold January night up at 2200 m, so it will be interesting to learn more idc. The last time I passed through, was summer 2018, when our schedule didn't allow us time to stop for a look around the place after we got delayed by a crazy diversion & traffic jams back in Merano, on our way to Garmisch-P.

When the UK National M/C Museum at Birmingham was engulfed by fire some years back, I was amazed at the way the team managed to get the collection back together promptly, although it has since been under financial pressure due to Covid closures. It seems some of the bikes, where duplicated in the reserve element of the collection, will now have to go to auction.
