Yep.

I have run the MM Jacket since 2006. It was blue and now it's sort of grey. http://www.hitairaustralia.com/jackets.htm# ;D

I have a friend who tested a Rivet at 180Km/h (est) and well, who knows...He got hurt, because he high sided and landed on his side.

They work well on high sides and by stopping further injury if you happen to fall sideways. If you land on your back, or front they are great, on your side not so much, but they will protect your neck.

They take 100ms to inflate, you repack them if they aren't torn to shreds and you install a $20.00 gas canister and go again.

Now on the road I would recommend them because part of the inflation is around your neck. Mine has all the usual CE armour and trademarks you get in a quality product anyway with the addition of the air bags.

Off road however, I have come to the conclusion that they are not so good as they do not give great resistance to sharp objects.

The best bet for a Dual purpose bike would probably to wear the air bag vest under an impact vest. I can't find much in the way of either type of protection that protects your ribs from a side impact, which is the only injury I have received. Rib damage.

So I am going to try an Acerbis Koerta with a Leatt brace

I can't guarantee when I can report the results though. If it doesn't work with the ribs I may have to buy a storm trouper outfit. :D

Thanks GrahamD. I'm probably going to try the high viz vest as I just picked up a Revit Sands2 jacket and normally ride with a high viz vest anyway. Yea I don't think I would wear it off road. I could have used that neckbrace in my younger years riding dirt bikes.

Hi,

Me and Mrs Monty wear the Hit Air hi viz vests. Not been unfortunate enough to need to test them yet, but we rarely leave home without them. I have done a test whilst not on the bike, and I am impressed with the way it feels when inflated. Really snug around, protection to the small of the back and neck as well as the body.

It won't protect you from all injuries, of course, but I believe it is likely to reduce the severity of injuries and could save your life.

Regards,

Matt
