Some have expressed wanting to ride the White Rim Trail in Canyonland National Park. Anybody up for this Early October?

I'm always up for that Mark.
BBBUUUTTT I might be taking my wife to the Dragon.
I'd rather ride with her than you, ;) Actually you are so good of a rider that you make me look bad.
Well about everyone makes me look bad anymore. something to do with getting old.
I'll keep this on the radar.

Here’s the start of Shaffer Canyon.

90 miles of dirt.
Riding on sheer clif roads
Some short sections of sand
Skidplate highly recommend
90 miles of dirt- 20 miles of pavement
In Canyonlands National Park
Only 50 vehicles allowed per day. (Little traffic)

I rode two up down Shafer Canyon Rd last summer, but I chickened out before I got to the bottom and turned around. Some of those switchbacks had some pretty deep sand, definitely not friendly for 1000 lbs + of bike, gear and riders. I recall a tense moment on one of the switchbacks when the edge of the road (and the dropoff) got waaay too close for a second LOL!

well that would help .... I have marked the dates you have proposed on my calendar... I have a preliminary rough budget worked out (based on fast food and camping ) ….. and I am not devoid of skills (but I know my limitations ).... wife has gave her blessing …. the questions , lots , and since you are a local ,more or less , your info will increase my learning curve.

Lots to see and do in Moab. The closer we get the harder it will be to find a campsite. If at all possible it’s better to have one reserved so you don’t run into that hassle after riding all day to get there.

White rim has a vehicle limit of 50 per day. You have to get a permit and they stagger groups of three vehicles 30 minutes apart. Permits are available 24 hours in advance.

Onion creek is a really fun ride too. Not hard at all with some fun stream crossings. Not difficult at all.
