Gotta get packed, change my oil and will head out tomorrow. I will spend the night somewhere between home and Moab. Don’t want to hit the SLC to Provo traffic at rush hour.

I’ll be at the Archview campground in a tent site. Black Super Tenere with a bright green Nemo tent.

Wow you guys are so lucky to be able to ride and enjoy such a stunning area. Love Geology as well as riding. If i had a choice that area Monument Valley etc would be my NO 1 destination. Its like looking at time in front of your eyes. Loved the photos and videos. Respect to all of you and your capabilities.

Thanks to those who came. It’s great putting faces to the names on here. I had an excellent time with a couple of great guys. We had some adventures/broken parts and overcame the challenges. My camera/phone went dead so not many pictures. 82DDBCA4-CBD6-4828-B868-57C61EA7BC1F.jpeg08BB3ABD-B2DD-4AF4-8BCA-8D751F83A723.jpeg563EEE9C-E4E6-4273-A6BE-095EF3F28B93.jpeg72B2D577-2937-4F87-BC02-B936EF70D7BE.jpeg Thanks guys.

I got home today at 1 pm , took wife to steakhouse , then been on couch most of the day.... 2438 miles for me driveway to driveway ...… I will have more to say tomorrow about all of this , but I have to say this , mak10 is the reason I finished the WRT , he has skill ,ability , and patience for those less skilled . if you ever get a chance to ride with him or just meet him , then you will know what I am saying .

artemedes was and is a cool guy to hang with ….. when you meet people and develop friendships even over a short time , its sad that we are unable because of geography to hang very often if ever , but we know who they are and keep them close at heart.... had a great time guys , thanks for putting up with me.

the after shocks of this trip keep ringing in my ears.... seriously , it was the hardest thing I have ever done on a motorcycle. if I never do another trip , well I have done this one. I have tried to do a trip every year , mostly short to 500 miles type trips ….. this was big for me. I had a 700 dollar budget , have 80 left in my pocket . had I not decided to take a break in big springs it would have saved me another 150 dollars..... it cost me more to get ready for the trip than to do the trip.... have a few repairs , mostly minor to make after the trip (battle damage I call it) . I have owned my bike for about 7 years and have never dropped it , but now I can say " never been dropped except on the WHITE RIM TRAIL , twice ."

we left camp and went to breakfast , and we got a late start . almost 1030 am when we start down the Shaffer trail. the ranger said we were leaving late, asked if any one had done this trail before.... mak10 has , I got the impression that if any of us had said no that he (the ranger ) might have said no , or strongly discourage us to continue. the first switch back had my heart pounding , its a long way down. and I have never had my bike off of gravel and well maintained gravel before.... when your talking to the ranger they tell you the speed limit is 15 mph , you kinda snicker at that ….. for my non es bike it was pretty self in forcing , about a 100 ft of smooth anything in the whole park.... mak10's es bike was better (and of course he was better ) for the terrain.

once at the bottom and I caught my breath you think oh good smooth gravel for a while , sucker trap. anything but smooth. and im thinking on the WRT, no still on the Shaffer , for 20 miles. (actual distance not determined with certainty ).
