For me performance is all about the very best traction and braking possible in all conditions for my riding style. I want a tire that I cannot come close to outriding the performance of.
I've gained enough AZ experience over the last couple years to know you need to recognize the conditions: tires, bike, skills, and terrain to ride within your riding style. My biggest limitation, with this bike and tires, is loose rocky uphill inclines and deep sand. I have to limit my ride selections accordingly. I have no limitations in Illinois beyond mud. I find the Mitas to be very predictable.

Not wanting to be left without a backup, and finding many common sites out of stock, I just ordered a new 07+ Dakar off Amazon, supposed to deliver next week. I'm not going to wait for the reintroduction indefinately given the current state of affairs and supply chain issues.

I just got off a KTM 1090 that had one of them Moto Z Tractionator on the rear. I was impressed how good it felt.
A few of the guys were running that Tractionator tire on the big KTM's during a desert rally a few years back. Those are fantastic tires in the sand and loose rocks. Naturally it cannot even compare to the longevity of the Mitas Dakar E07.

I’m one who likes the E07 for its performance. I get about 6k out of the rear so, my mileage isn’t a big factor in liking them. As I’ve said before, they are just a great all around tire. If you haven’t tried one, the comeback is your chance. Maybe it isn’t for everyone but, I likey.

Giving this thread a bump since most of the posts on the comeback are in the E07+ thread.

It looks like the some places have gotten some tires in stock though I haven’t seen it on the big mail order sites yet. I will be getting a Dakar version.

I checked on Revzilla and Rocky Mountain last night, and they don't have them yet. I imagine it's going to take a little time to get them back into the supply system, especially with the pandemic disruptions.

In the meantime simply get something that Twisted Throttle has to offer. They have a big sale on the Mefo Explorer tires for under 250 bucks a set!!

Unless I'm losing my memory, I believe the 150/70-17 Dakar sold for around $160 give or take back when it was widely available. Good price was part of the great value of the tire. Looks like they think the tire is very desirable now at a higher price point. I suppose supply/demand as always.

As popular as the E07 is, I figure it's going to fetch over 300.00 per set. And that is still a smoking deal. Almost any good tire is going to command 350.00 - 450.00 plus per set for this bike. That's why I mentioned the Mefo's in a previous post. As you can see performance comes at a price.

For a comparison here are a few others per set give or take a few bucks:

Anakee Wilds 360.00

E07+ 280.00

TKC 80 280.00

K60 340.00

Shinko 804/805 200.00

Tractionator GPS 325.00

My last bulk order from Poland before they stopped production was 10% higher due to USD exchange rates. Same price and shipping from seller but forex killed me. Probably similar now.

I emailed Revzilla about availability with them. They replied and still think it's discontinued. I corrected them, waiting to hear back. I think I've got them before from Twisted Throttle but, last I checked they didn't have them either.

You can call MotoRace.com directly... I continue to give them my business for their continued support of the sport.

As of 05:16 this morning PST the Mitas E07 150/70-17 69T TL/TT rear tire has become available and in stock for both the standard and Dakar version. The 110/80-19 59T TL/TT front in both standard and Dakar has already been available the last few months. The price is a real bargain at only 150.00 for the front and 190.00 for the rear.

I'm looking for a set of Mitas E07 Dakar (not plus), I found them on Revzilla and Motorace for $334, nothing on Twisted Throttle. Has anyone found a better price recently?
Try MX1 Canada they sell Mitas. Free shipping over $100 in Canada. Im not sure if they have the Dakar version in stock but I did get a set of non Dakar from them in the fall.

That is expensive! I just had a new +dakar rear fitted. I take the wheel, he mounts and balances it for €135 incl taxes and disposal of the old one. Brand new, produced just before Christmas. Oh and when he ordered it, the tire came from Spain (track&trace). Odd…

I thought you were riding the Harley and Gold Wing this winter! Just laying away for summer?
