(you better do the calculation to " ;) )
Time very soon for me to get new tires and I am really interested in the Karoo Street for my S10.
I have not been able to check out these particular tires in person as of yet.
The few, written reviews I had read and a couple of video reviews that I have watched so far about the Street
are mostly positive but there is mention that they are a bit loud on the pavement at highway speeds.
Are your Karoo Streets made in Brazil, China or Germany?
I would think since you are located in Europe you most likely received the tires manufactured in Germany.

Well, I got suprised when looking at exactly this.
I was curious, due to Metzeler is a German company, but 48,5% of the share?? is own by a Chinese company.

(Actually Metzler was overtaken by Pirelli in 1986)

The front is "made in China"
the rear is "made in Germany"
What the f... o_O

But I guess it is make sense, about 48,5% of the rubber I recived, is made in China, exactly like the shares....:D:D:)

(tires bought online from a company located in Germany)

My choise was in the end between Pirelli Scorpion STR or these Metzler, and I went with Metzeler because it is well known that the Pirelli is loud on pavement...But maybe These are also

I have not long put a set on my 2017 S10 and so far loving them. Have only done about 1000k though. Will be doing plenty more in the next six weeks so will also report back but so far not too bad on the pavement and track really well on shingle roads.

Do the Karoo Streets "hum" or "howl" at speed on the pavement?
Can you feel a vibration in the forks and the handlebars on the pavement?
The Karoo Streets have a somewhat deep lug (knobby) pattern that is why I ask.
I have yet to see the Karoo Street in person nor have I come across someone that is currently using them.
The Metz Tourance EXPs are almost done on my S10 and I would like to replace them with a 80/20, 70/30
dual sport tire.

I have used this tires last season. They gives great confidence on gravel, compare to Tourance next that i had earlier. But on tarmac they make some noice above 90 km/h and they wear out quickly. Next summer i will go to south Europe, then I will put on Tourance next again.

This how rear wheel look afther 4500 km

And new

Thank you, it was the "sticky" part I was interested in. I suddenly got "cold feet", because sometimes I forget to slow down when the road turns ;-)
But now happy again, it sounds like the sticky part is as good as the OEM BattleWing

Greetings diego.ehmke,
I am interested to know what you think of the Karoo Streets once you put some miles on them as I need new tires soon and I am driving myself crazy trying to figure out which ones to buy.
The three 80/20, 70/30 tires I am interested in are the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR, the Metzeler Karoo Street and the Michelin Anakee Adventure.
Lastly, were your Karoos made in Brazil, China or Germany?
Thanks in advance,
MFP

Hi MFP,
When I have a greater mileage, and more experience with them, I will post my considerations here,
about the manufacturing site, I found something interesting,
the front is made in germany, and rear is in China,
I don,t know if it would have anything to do with size or because it is front or rear.

Got the back tire on the rim today.

Front tire made in Germany, need 5g to be in balance
Rear tire, made in China, need 30g to be in balance

I was suprised. But have no idea if this is much. (never balanced my tire on my previous TransAlp.)

Now someone might think if i am insinuating that it have something to be whit the country of origin.
But this is just fact. (And I know that there is more rubber on rear tire)

So, is 30g much?? (think it is 1,058 ounces)

There was no weight on the OEM tire, but don't really know if the tire is balanced from factory.
And did not test OEM wheel before changing tire.IMG_20190309_171518441.jpg

Have put the first hour of driving on these tire.
Yes, they do make sound, like a deep tone "hum" starting at about 25 m/h, and continue up to at least 70 m/h (and that's the max. for today;))
From about 50 m/h there are some vibration, and you can feel it on the footpegs, I don't feel it on handlebar. I don't think it will get so bad that you can't ride all day though....
So for sure louder than the OEM Battlewing, but given the way more open tread, that was to be expectet.
But I did not expect the vibrations, but given the tread....maybe I should have expectet that.

No gravel, no rain yet. (but they have to be much better on gravel than the OEM)

On tarmac I believe they stick at least as well as the OEM, but have of course not been very aggresive in corner yet. (slippery new surface)
