Seven years riding, all on cruisers, 6 of it on HD's. I've always wanted to try ADV riding and get off the pavement, and I've decided now is the perfect time. I sold my beautiful '14 Street Glide Friday, rode 4 different ADV bikes this weekend, and I've decided the Super Tenere is the bike for me. I'll be picking up a '14+ model within the next two weeks. I'm hoping to pick up a holdover '16 or '17 ES model, but I found a barely used non-ES '14 for a really good deal, so I might take the savings on that. I haven't decided just yet. I'll be looking for good roads to travel throughout Texas to start. No offroad experience, but I'm excited to learn. My wife also rides her own, and she will probably be taking the plunge once we sell her Heritage.

You won't regret it.

I went from an '04 HD Road King to a '12 650 V-Strom and then to a '14 Super Tenere, and the S10 is hands down a better touring platform for me than the Road King was. Better more practical luggage, better riding position, more passenger room, more power, and the ability to go places that the RK wasn't suited for. 18,000 miles on the Suzuki and then 52,000 miles on the Yamaha, and I've never wished I was back on the Harley. Last month I was riding two-up down roads like Shafer Trail in Canyonlands National Park, the Moki Dugway, and Phantom Canyon Road, and was extremely glad that I was on the Yamaha. It's a "do-it-all" kind of motorcycle.

My wife rides her own (Heritage Softail for now), so 2 up isn't a concern right now. My daughter is turning 5 in a few months, and talks about nothing more than getting on a motorcycle with me. I'd much rather take her off the beaten path than on the interstate, so ADV riding is a good fit. I think it lets riding be a little more family friendly, especially at this point in our lives.

::004:: For what it's worth, my 2 cents says wait for an ES. I don't think there's anything WRONG with the non-ES; there's just more RIGHT with the ES. ::001::

I'm a cruiser guy too at heart, but the S10 is just a wonderful bike to ride - its so smooth and some comfortable that I don't regret not having a big cruiser anymore!! ::001::

Well, I should be picking up a 2015 ES tomorrow, and my wife may be picking up a 2014 non ES too!

Anyone want to buy an '06 Heritage Classic??

I came from having a 14 Low Rider and a 15 Road Glide to a 16 Tenere and a 18 FJR. I don't miss the Harleys a bit.

Well, we both picked up our Super Tenere's yesterday. '15 ES for me, '14 non-ES for her. Time to put the Heritage up for sale!

I did, and thank you again. If it hadn’t been for a chance encounter with Madhatter at a local shop, we would’ve never even considered the S10.

thanks , all cleared up now..... just to add to the story , I met maverick at woods fun center in Austin tx.... rain had cancelled my work and I was bored so I drove to north Austin just to look at bikes... they ( woods ) being a multi brand dealership I thought I would take a seat on a bmw gs just for the fun of it.... it sits well... maverick started a conversation about adventure bikes and I put a plug in on our beloved s10.... I left the building .... so a few days ago I checked the forum and found I had a pm ( I had mentioned the forum and my handle to maverick and that was that ) maverick sent me a pm thanking me for suggesting the s10 and that he was picking it up the next day or something like that.... so I was a bit jazzed and went looking for new member post and found mavericks intro.... had he not sent a pm I would not have put all this together and would have been oblivious to this .... so that's was a cool outcome to a few minutes conversation...... super08 we could use some of that cool Canadian air down here , please send as much as you can spare...

Pouring rain where I am today, a good part of the city is flooded. We are high and dry where we are at least.
