For those of you that have the Madstad Windscreen System, what do you do on hot days? Is there enough adjustability to get more airflow? I understand it provides great wind protection, but is it too much on hot days?

Im 6'3" looking to buy the 22" screen.

I don't have too many issues with my Madstadt bracket and Parabellum windscreen. Yes, in town and at stop lights it can get warm, but once moving, the air gets around OK. Probably the biggest effect is on helmet ventilation - there I will say that it's simply difficult to get airflow through the vents. This is true on the highway, too. I don't bother changing around the windscreen tilt or anything and just ride with my faceshield up (with eye protection, of course). I could lower the screen or put it at more tilt, but I'm just too lazy or it hasn't been that big an issue. It's not like you will be sitting in a pocket of still air.

I think I have the same setup. I find that if it is really warm, I put the shield all the way down and angle it all the way back. The top of my helmet gets a good dose of air that gets scooped into the vent. Works OK.

There are times that the front chin vent doesn't get enough air for my tastes, but I think my helmet is not the best at airflow in the first place.

I have thought about putting a shorty on for the summer. Especially if I am riding rural roads and don't have to deal with freeway speeds and dirty choppy air caused by other traffic. It may be worth it for me.

I just got mine installed in the last two weeks, so not too much experience yet in really hot weather. I am 6'3" and went with the stock shape 22" screen. The additional protection is really nice. At first, with the face shield closed, I found it too hot. It was low humidity in the high 80s. But, I actually found it nice to ride with my face shield up using sun glasses. You get enough protection that it is comfortable and significantly cooler. When going past 65 mph, I was putting the face shield down to cut out noise but left it slightly open for the air. I think it is a compromise but I prefer the extra protection and the option to open and close the face shield vs. getting blasted all the time, even at mid speeds. At 6'3", our heads just stick too far up for the stock screen.

I did play with the angle and heights, but kept dealing with the buffeting issue. Their recommended setting, after tweaking it about a half dozen times, is where I ended up. What a surprise...

Also, before getting the Madstad windscreen, I had added the side deflectors, and they made good progress in reducing the buffeting, so something to consider.

I’m in fla and run the madstad on my Ténéré. I use a v stream during the “winter” & a mra vario in the summer. The mra allows for good clean airflow.

I really like the MRA Vario for many bikes but they are often a bit on the short side. I think that is the case for the one they make for the Tenere. I have found the MRA to be consistently one of the quieter choices available on several different bikes.

The Madstad bracket is fantastic for its versatility as well as the rigid GPS mount. I think their windscreens are a bit on the tall side. So, what I have decided to do is install the MRA Touring X-creen on the stock windscreen in combination with the Madstad bracket. I expect this set up to account for all the variable weather conditions I will experience year round.

It takes 10 minutes to change a screen, I have a short sports screen which is my preference and a tall Puig screen for winter/rain.
Speaking of that, do any of you know of a quicker way to change the shield? The T screws aren't difficult, but it would be nice if there was a quick release or some other type of fastener that would make it easy to pop off and swap for another.

Remember that the rubber well-nuts are there so the shield will pop off if your body hits it, rather than creating something to slice and dice you.

Thanks CW. That is part of why I was asking. I could probably come up with a quicker solution from parts from the hardware store, but to your point it probably wouldn't break off in a crash. ??? I was wondering if anyone had found a quick connect type of bolt/connector that would still break away in a crash. Like I said, not a huge deal as I am not swapping out shields ever day, but I figured it would be worth asking.

I’m 6’0” and have the 25.5” Parabellum. I lower the bracket which drops the screen appox 2”. With that adjustment I get pretty good airflow in my face.

I’m lucky and live in a dry climate so tossing on the hydration vest and standing up when traffic situations allows it helps too.

I have the Madstad bracket, a 22 inch Madstad screen and a MRA x creen deflector. By far the most beneficial out of all of those is the MRA. I still had buffeting problems before I got that. I have it adjusted where I can slap it up to eliminate buffeting and slap it down to point air right to my face. No unscrewing anything.

By the way, the 22 inch shield is too tall with the bracket. I wish I would have gone with the smallest shield. The bracket can only mount in the upper holes.

I run the OEM screen and Madstad right in the middle for tilt and height. I works perfect for the 100-110 degree temps we have had the last few weeks. I did a test ride of about 265 miles last week and was very pleased with the setup.

So I just purchased an ‘18 that came with a MadStad and extra tall bar risers. I removed half the risers and my screen hits the hand guards. I tried without the risers and still hits. Thoughts? Seems like everything is ligned up

Been a MadStad fan for years and LOVE my MadStad/Givi combo on the STen! After initial setup, I've not found the need to make any adjustments.
