What exactly is involved in putting a Gen 1 Madstad bracket and windshield on a Gen 2 bike? I am looking at replacing my 2013 with a 2017. Thanks

Goes on no problem exact same way. You'll need a Gen. 1 windshield to go with Gen. 1 Madstad bracket or you can drill the holes.

So just to piggy back on this thread I am 6' with about a 32 inseam and am looking at either the 20" or 22" screen, any thoughts or wisdom someone can pass along? 6' is right on the threshold for both so my thoughts are to go with the larger one as I can always move it lower, this is what I did on my other bike and it has worked fine.

I'm 6'4", 34" inseam and like the 22" screen, but I prefer to look over the top. I believe Madstad has an exchange program for returning screens. There is a lot of adjustment built into their bracket.

I'm 6'3" and got the 22" 4 years ago. If I had it to do over I'd get the 24". Sometimes those xtra fat bugs will hit me in the face with it all the way up. There's enough adjustability to move it down when I don't need it that high.

Hard to give advice on windshields. Everyone has a preference of how much wind they like. Someone may be the same height as you....we all give different torso and leg lengths. Also, seating position and arm length.
Having said this...I'm 5'10" prefer some wind in my face and like to look over the windshield. I've tried just about all but a couple. Based on my experience, the stock windshield in the tall version works the best for me and I use a Madstad bracket.

Good point, I like a little breeze on my face but not a gail force wind. For my Victory I went with the larger screen but have it more down so I can see over, in the rain I can move it up. Is that the stock windscreen from Yamaha or is the tall version different?

It is the taller version of the oem/stock from Yamaha. I do like the regular stock windshield as well. Sounds like we have the same preference of wind.

The travel of the Gen 1 Madstad brackets are not completely useful in the Gen 2 S10 because the new peak with the " Shrek ears"of the bike will not let you put it in the lower position.

If you are referring to the Deflector P/N 2BS-283M3-00-00, it can be directly replaced with the Gen I version; Cover, Meter P/N 23P-83559-00-00. ($4.82 from PartShark) The Yamaha tuning fork emblem for that is: Tuning Fork Mark P/N 4KN-2836B-10-00 ($8.31! ) LINK

I did this on my '15 when I removed the adjuster and went back to a Gen I windscreen set up to eliminate buffeting.

[QUOTE = "EricV, post: 381074, member: 704"] Si se refiere al Deflector P / N 2BS-283M3-00-00, se puede reemplazar directamente con la versión Gen I; Cubierta, medidor N / P 23P-83559-00-00. ($ 4.82 de PartShark) El emblema del diapasón de Yamaha para eso es: Diapasón Marca P / N 4KN-2836B-10-00 ($ 8.31!) ENLACE

Hice esto en mi '15 cuando quité el ajustador y volví a una configuración de parabrisas Gen I para eliminar el golpeteo. [/ QUOTE]

If you used the 23P 83559-00-00 GEN 1 deflector, I suppose you had to shave the upper edge of the deflector because it touchs the dashboard back.
doesn't it?

It's been a couple of years since I did it. I believe you are correct in that I did have to trim some on the back side of the panel. It wasn't a big deal at the time. I think I just used a razor knife. (box knife/stanley knife) I didn't bother to buy the tuning fork emblem, since it's behind the windscreen anyway, which is usually dirty and covered with bugs on my bike.
