Saturday was hot . I had no plans to ride. but neighbor wanted to take his bike out . so I agreed to ride if we went to Lockhart to eat at Henry's . we had chicken fried steaks .....
then he wanted me to ride his bike . so I said yes. his bike is a Honda crf 300 rally . he has added lots of goodies to it . but it is still a 300. he said the best speed he could get out of it was about 65mph on level ground or down hill. now this bike is no rocket , but I managed to hit 74 on a long gradual slight up hill . 8000 rpm = 74 mph. I think I could have gone faster but the bike was feeling a bit skittish . I out weigh my neighbor by 60 lbs . I'm 6'2" and 270 dressed . so I road a baby dual sport , would be as good of a commuter bike as a scooter as its mpg was in the high 60s . so great scooter like milage but doesn't look like a scooter . its happy place is around 55 mph . I pretty much overwhelmed the brakes with my big butt on it . made for a fun stopping experience . he likes riding my Tenere . he has an 890 when he wants to keep up.

it was 100 yesterday ,today it will be the same , and tomorrow . no dirt bike riding .
tomorrow being Memorial Day I will hang around the house and bbq .... remembering who paid for my freedom .
saw TopGun Maverick twice this weekend . it was TopGun but better . very entertaining . saw it at the local EVO then took my cousin on Saturday who cannot drive ,to a dolby theater . big difference. dolby = giant screen and giant sound. worth the money and the wait. enjoy!

Yeah, last year was relatively mild with plenty of rain. This year's shaping up to be an average summer. Maybe it will be hot enough to make the recent CA/NY transplants go back to their cooler climes.

We've had so little rain, most of North Texas is under a burn ban which includes a firework ban. The roadside burn spots are starting to multiply from people throwing their cigarettes out the window. No chance of rain, but the humidity is going to be increasing. o_O

WOO-HOO!! Got rained on today. One of those pop-up cells that don't move. Still, only got .1" at most.

104 or 105 today and tomorrow .... its very nice when you walk out in the early morning , but once the sun is up the nice will go away in a hurry . the last 2 years during the summer blast I usually take the kayak out . but so far this summer have been very busy on the weekends and with gas prices it takes some commitment to the finances to head to the water. the nearest body of water to play in is 30 min away but its a river and it flows away from your truck , so when one kayaks alone who is going to pick you up. lots of motorcycle buddies but have not found a kayak buddy . so that means a lake , you can come back to your starting point . so I can paddle alone which does not bother me . but I do wear a PFD and practice the techniques needed in what ever situation you find yourself. maybe next weekend I will head to the lake , wife is out of town seeing the grand daughter ,sounds like a plan.
I am planning to take the dirt bike outside to do some cleaning and checking on it , fall will be here by January I hope and then we ride.
the main bike the big Tenere I'm prepping for a fall trip . will probably count new tires , everything else is ready to go . im planning a trip to Mississippi , probably about 7 days . and this time im not camping , going to have a room each night. sometimes its good to splurge....
so what im seeing about this thread is no one is adding to it so their not riding dirt either . this thread open to all who want to share there rides .
im pretty much healed as im going to get after my Christmas whiskey throttle crash , just waiting on cooler weather .
one last thing , im shopping for a 3rd bike something street legal to fit between the Beta and the Super Tenere ..... been looking at a Vespa 300 , Piaggio BV400 , Suzuki Burgman 400 and or something more P/C a DRZ 400 or the DR 650 ,or could go street legal Beta ,KTM. or nothing at all , have not made up my mind just yet. and I need to or want to but a new jacket for street riding . my aeorstitch Darian jacket is 8 years old ,so do I buy another 'stitch or do I consider something else. and there we have it , my thoughts for the moment.....

I was out last weekend on the DR running around and hit some places we used to go all the time to get hung up tear up bikes and trucks. Had a lot of good times in this area. Had a good time riding the DR around the old stomping grounds. Yea most was not real dirt biking but about 5 or 6 miles of it was the real deal. Just could not get pics in those areas.

been a long time since we have had mud here..... as for the paint trash people . a thousand years from now some archeological group will find the paint and remark on how primitive our culture was. and they would be correct.
thanks for posting your ride .... I'm riding my neighbors new DR650 this Sunday.
