Born and raised in Lockhart, I’m a bbq snob … my favorite bbq joint is city market in lulling Texas . San Marcos now has 2 very good bbq joints. My favorite Lockhart bbq joint is Chisholm trail ( but it’s not the best ) it’s the best value around. About the price of a whataburger meal . Smittys is the best bbq joint of the 4 bbq joints in town. Central Texas has lots of good joints to try all are good at something. There are even bbq trail challenge I here for people to try.

BBQ is way too subjective. Like accessorizing a Tenere or Jeep. One man's trash, is another man's treasure.

A few more pictures from Saturday at spoaks . Beta demo tent from ground level. Our Saturday tradition of cooking hotdogs for lunch, makes for a break and quite tasty. I think I said something about a night trail ride , carrots headlight failed sometime in the day , so a few beers seemed to be a better option. maybe next time.

So on the side of a Lockhart Texas bbq joint is this sign explaining how Lockhart is bbq capital of Texas. I think I said of the world, same thing really. F02461CB-1D35-4F01-BDB9-DE203F47DFA2.jpeg

Theese guys say otherwise. :D I couldn't care less. Too subjective. I like mine, and since I'm eatin' it . . . .
Besides . . . . letting politicians pick something to be the "best"? Haven't we learned that lesson yet? :D

you can be the bbq capital of Texas (Lockhart) and other places win awards . blacks , kruez , Smitty's ,and Chisolm trl (when I was in my 20's ) in a town of 6k, now doubled in population ,but still mostly small town. of the 4 Smitty is #1.
city market in Luling has been an award winner , still one of the best . Southside market is damn good (not a fan of their sausage) their in Elgin and Bastrop... hays county is a new favorite along with San Marcos bbq (with its roots coming from Chisolm trail. old 300 in blanco is well worth the stop , they have the Fred Flintstones type beef ribs (just going to need 1) amazing.
starting to get hungry myself ...

Baylor history department not very good. And they seem to suggest this was a successful mission. It was a slaughterhouse of a mission. Not in anyway a successful mission.
