It's weird, we haven't hit 100F yet this year. And, a lot of places that don't . . . . have. Not complaining mind you.

it was good to ride yesterday . we did not ride a lot of miles (heat ) but did ride a few new trails carrot has incorporated into series of trails . generally we Start at little creek , we have a warm up course that's a clover leaf , doing 8 or 10 laps , then you will know how your reflexes are. then we ride in little creek who's difficulty is a 1 . we proceed to chunk a rock hill , we have a course laid out here , nothing crazy , its difficulty is a 2 or a 3 ( its narrow with trees , hit one at speed not recommended ) . cows were not happy with our intrusion . from there we go to the hill of death a solid 1 or 2 ,and only because the track can be a bit loose as you climb and it produces rocks . we have Graham springs , a new track rocky creek ( from 1 inch to baby heads ) a solid 2 not quite a 3 (made you work ,sweat pouring off of us , in a heavy woods section ) there is Area 51 ,an open section with traps to watch for . Sherwood Forest , snakes live there .
at first carrot thought it silly to name these spots as he has lived here all his life , but now its where do we want to start , some one says Graham springs and we all know exactly were to go .... easier than pointing .
a hazard we had to endure was the grass , lots of rain means lots of grass , tall grass . you cant see what's in the tall grass , be it tree branches or rocks or holes or occasional scrap barb wire that got left behind. the grass has grown over the the dirt roads in the pastures , it hides muddy patches , grass can be slippery . but not knowing what you cant see can hurt you . so slow in the tall grass.
tall grass makes happy cows , it tickles their bellies .
seems cows like to poop on our trails , not without some humor.....

on carrots ranch the most difficult parts are probably no more than a 3 . that's pushing it some I think . if its difficult its more that it is densely wooded and the trail is tight as you weave in and out of the trees . the trees are always shedding branches onto the trail , cow pies , sand (can be a little sandy ) and softball size rocks . we don't cut down trees , we trim some branches if needed . other hazards are pear cactus that line the trail (don't fall there it will ruin your week ) jumping cactus , vines with thorns , trees with thorns , cows with horns (not really , his heard is polled) poisonous snakes , wasp , various other insects , on it goes . don't forget to look up as you have to duck under some of the branches .
I wondered after being off the beta for over a month how long it would take me to feel right on it again , not to long at all . maybe a minute . had a long work week so was tired , that had more of an effect on me . then the heat . it seemed that some of the trails I struggle with were easy and some of the easy seemed harder yesterday . go figure.
happy 4th of July guys , enjoy your freedom .

its been another cool for us week .... rain from the gulf rain from the north rain from the west ..... usually a high pressure builds over Texas and just sits there most of the summer like a magnifying glass cooking ants.... not so so far , 90% chance of rain tomorrow.

so ,each morning I check this thread and I make a comment at times . I'm hoping others are sharing their dirt bike stuff here. but it is hot here ,amazingly though its not even close to Texas hot . 15 days into July and the temps are low 90's..... we can ride dirt bikes , but its a sweaty affair . one other thing is the humidity add heat and a wet wool shirt and that's the feel of it . come on September and fall weather .
a year ago I bought a Mustang and that has ruined my daily riding of my Tenere . the commute to work aint bad , its the commute home . the Mustang A/C will blow your hat into the back seat , and after a hot and sweaty work day ,when I get back to the yard the prospect of gearing up for the ride seems to be less desirable . so i'm wimping out .

It’s so dry and loose here. My riding buddy’s leg. View attachment 82445
Infection is gonna be a bitch. My son's friend ended up with a good amount of road rash. Took him months for it to heal. It kept getting "re-infected".

I cut myself once, (accidently) and required stitches. The doc gave me an antibiotic shot to work from the inside. He only recommended anti-biotic creams for scratches, not cuts. I told him about getting a staff infection that the doctors didn't know how it started. He went on to tell me that I had likely trapped some bacteria inside a cut. The triple-biotic that I used, healed the skin so fast, the bacteria didn't have time to ooze out.

So, if I was your buddy, I'd go to a minor emergency clinic, let them clean it, and dose me with a big shot of antibiotics. You can see the ooze. I bet that stings like a son of a bitch.
