I have three (sort of) dirt bikes in the garage, KTM 250SX, Honda XR350R and KTM 690. I have ridden the 250SX three times in the last two years and it's probably heading out soon, so I get it. Even though I don't use it much it's a lot of fun to ride.
Not having a license plate on it was the biggest reason it didn't get used much, the off road areas near me are surrounded by areas that you can also ride but you have to be street legal. Majority of my riding pals are dual sport guys. That's why I got the XR350R, it's plated for that kind of stuff but not as heavy as the 690.

to many bikes , not sure that's a problem , like having to many girlfriends , never mind that's a problem . no one gets treated right . I'm going to ride its primarily the Super Tenere , if im going to play its the Beta . poor brand new DR650 has gotten no love at all .
so when I last used the Beta it was an early June Saturday and being in central Texas it got hot . we decided to hold off dirt biking till the fall . everything that could get in the way has... so after not riding the Beta for over a year I started to contemplate keeping or selling .... my neighbor stopped by and out of the blue made me an offer (here's my sign ) so I agreed.
I could have ridden more if I took it to the public tracks , but cost money and are "you cant ride there you can ride here " and that never appealed to me . at the ranch we had freedom to ride any cow trail we wanted ... great fun ,not about speed , sometimes pretty technical .
and then there was the on going drought here in central Texas . ranch owner never said it but was concerned about the grass . we tried to stay off the grass (not really an issue ) but grass is no fun anyway.
and elderly parents , started spending more time helping mom with my free time than anything else . my ridding buddy is very busy helping his parents . so I could go on , I think it's just one of life's twist that things change im less than a month away from turning 66 . I have lots of interest to keep me busy , and I still love motorcycling .but one day that will change too.

here is an update . my neighbor who bought my Beta is planning to race it in the Texas Off Road Championship series (aka TORCS) this Sunday weather pending (big chance of rain and he don't like to race in mud ) , so if all goes well we are off to the races . I will post photos if this happens ..... it is pretty spring like here other than rain should be a nice weekend .
