Has anybody used lowering links and put the tubes higher in the triple clamp to achieve a 2 inch lower seat height. Replaced both hips and not able to tiptoe ride anymore. Can't afford to fall but don't want to stop riding. Thanks.

My 2018 is lowered 2" with Soupy's Lowering kit. I also have the adjustable side stand. I can almost flat foot the bike with passenger and suspension set to soft. The lowering kit can go to 3" but I don't want to drop it that low. My inseam is 32". i have not done any adjustments to the forks.

Does the kit require removing center stand also?

Hello AK VET, Arkansas or the one with a barrel?
I have a set of lowering links, but for now I have decided to first try a lower seat. (Yamaha seat) Hopefully I'll be riding very soon and try out my lower seat. I'm just recovering from a small surgery. The lower seat is supposed to get your feet closer to the ground by 30 mm or 1 1-/4 inches. Hmmmm..I've sat on the lower seat and I feel it lowers your feet by only 1/2 inches maximum.
There is some very good information on this forum about installing lowering links.
There's fixed links and adjustable links. Two inches is a large adjustment in my books.
So, if you do get some lowering links installed, with a two inch drop....here's what to expect: changes to the side stand, the centre stand, and the front forks to retain the handing dynamics of the bike. It's all doable but must be done properly.
I'm sure that we are going to hear from other forum members who will chime in.

No adjustment to the front forks, well please be very careful in your turns, because you have altered the dynamics of the bike.

After all the help and suggestions, I've decided to not mess with geometry and not use the dog bones and slipping the front forks up in the triple clamp. Major catalyst for decision was pertinent to frost heaves in Alaska that might cause loss of control on a bottom out. Last night installed 5 rubber grommets from Yamaha kit that gave 1/2 inch, set ES suspension to (1 rider no, bags, and Soft selected for dampening and -3) that gave 1 inch, and combined this with 1/2 inch higher sole on boots. That resulted in total gain of 2" lower. My main concern will be the side stand that has left much to desire since factory built as it almost is straight vertical when used. It was nice to have both feet flat on ground. Thanks again for the help.

Ok, please help me out here,
Today, I ordered a package of 5 rubber grommets from my Yamaha dealer.
I'm confused, because beneath the seat are 6 rubber grommets????
I have the OEM seat and also a Yamaha OEM lower seat which lowered the height by a minimal amount of barely 1/2 inches.
Like yourself, I don't think I need to install the lowering links which I will sell. If you can provide me with additional information about the shorter grommets or rubber bumpers I would be greatful.
Thanks

It's a no brainer
There is a short video if you Google "lower seat on Tenere". It shows you how to replace the rear 4 OEM grommets with the 4 shorter ones you purchased. The 5th short one requires drilling a hole in the metal bracket on bottom piece that takes the slopp out of where the plastic piece from the seat slides in. Only mistake you can make is trying to do the hole on top part and he mentions it in the video as he did it. I don't think you will have a problem. I first did a 3/8's hole and then just dremeled out till it fit. Good luck. Peter

I trimmed the nub off the rubber and glued it under the bracket when I leveled the seat.
