Good job keeping the bike up. Buuuutttt, why on earth are you running 100 mph on this bike on public roads. Really good way to good to go to jail or get dead. I'm all in for have some fun on them but it ain't no sport bike.
Difference between 75~80 (typical freeway speeds here) and 100 wouldn't be what killed me.
On a long flat 5 lane slab with emergency lanes on both sides and minimal traffic I don't think the speed of 100 is outrageous. Speed limits out here are subjective, its not like back East. Heck reckless driving only kicks in at 35 above the limit here. So 100mph was within that "allowance".

100 mph is not my driving style in town. Having fun on a new bike on a unseasonably cool day I let my hair down a little to see what the bike felt like at higher speeds. Your comment came across more preachy then you intended. You probably meant it as a "Dude what are you doing?" not a "dad's here to tell you". Hard to get inflection just on text alone so you never know.

Great save and a fantastic outcome for yourself.
Sorry to go there,BUT,bare skin on a motorcycle.
I used to race pushbikes many moons ago. Falling off at 25-30 mph left a hell of a mess.
Triple that speed, mate,I shudder to think how that would look.
Glad it all worked out for you this time.

Don't mean to preach, I do like folks getting home to there family and save. If I came across sounding like my dad that's not such a bad thing. I do find I sound more like him every day. He was right about alot more things than I was. But again I didn't mean to preach.

You're right....it's that sudden stop that would do the deed. :D Time and place....for everything. Race tracks, obviously the BEST place. Not everybody has the access, or the money for the access. Empty highways....second best? I think that's why I like curves; not a lot of speed to FEEL like a lot of speed. Around here, reckless is not a set speed. It's the totality of the situation. Speed is a factor, but there has to be the risk of injury/death to any party.

Yep that's what I figured. Funny how dads advice takes about 20 years to settle out to be the right thing isn't it..... God if we only knew what we thought we knew at 16 hah!

Damn physics.

Looked familiar with the front weave and all.
I went through the same last year at 75 mph.
I also kept to upright but scared the crap out of me.

Decided to skip the set of mitas I had and waited for a set of battlewings to show up.

Had the shop mount the new rear yesterday, brought it home and put it on. First time ever doing a install myself. IT did not fall off so I will consider that a big win! hah.

P.S. god what a money saver having a center stand is. Normally if you bring the bike in its ~$80 to swap a tire. Only cost me ~$35 to only bring in the wheel.

Lost a rear tire at over 100 this morning. Steering going full lock out of the blue at that speed is always.....fun..... The subsequent few times were interesting...

Kept her upright. Used up my luck for the year. All that went through my head was... Sure you were just running to buy a screw you didn't need to put on your jacket......

Happened to me last year at 70 mph. Fun aint it. I too was able to keep it up by Gods grace.
By the time I stopped the rear tire was smoking and the both beads were loose from the rim. Had to tow and replace the rear tire.We live to ride another day :)

Good save. The gods were watching out for you. I would've left 3 skid marks if that had been me.
