Long time R1200gsa rider (and a few R1150gsa's) along with a herd of other models (Harley, Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha) and shifting to a Tenere 1200 at this time. I'm 6'4" and the Tenere is the only other bike that actually fits me so thats the next one in the stall! Looking for one as we speak so if you have a low mileage, excellent condition bike laying around... let me know! I'm in the Pacific Northwest and the riding here is amazing. Looking forward to learning more about the Tenere world. Thanks

Snohomish Co here, good luck with your search. Not much for sale locally and most likely not the right time of year hew in the great North Wet. Take your time something will come up.

My GS riding buddy said that he tried a Tenere and absolutely hated it, had all kinds of bad things to say. I don't know if the bike was not good or he just has BMW snobbery, but obviously not every bike is for every person.

for sure... I have ridden my buddies S10 and liked it for sure. I love the size and power of my GSA but am sick of the cost of repairs and electronic issues I seem to continually have. I never ever had issues with my Japanese bikes.

Welcome.

I've owned a LC GS and honestly, it's a better machine than the S10. But.. the S10 is 90% as good and infinitely more reliable, especially as the years and miles pile up. Like you, I wanted a drama- free ownership experience and so the S10 is a keeper.

MeetZah, interesting your comment that LC GS is a better machine but I'm confuse when you say that S10 "infinitely more reliable"! I think that the S10 has pros and cons but at the end is a great bike!! fo course it might not have all the bells BMW has. I'm very happy with my S10 too!
Regards

The S10 seems to have a much more proven record of long term reliability than the GS. I would worry taking a high mileage decade old GS cross country... I would have no such worries with a similar vintage / mileage S10.

eemsreno is still doing multi-state tours/trips on his. . . . at over 226k miles. He has a new, but I guess he wants to make sure he got his money's worth on the first one. :D
