I've worn Shoeis & Arais. Currently, my head is fitting Arais quite well. I got a good deal on a Corsair when I got my Tenere, and like it very much. Good feel, venting, and fairly quiet; my SENA works well with it.

I've been super impressed with the Vemar Kona. It's suprisingly lite, has a built in sun shade, supports a pinlock insert and is affordable.

I just ordered a Krios Pro from Klim today after trying on the original Krios a couple weeks ago. The fit was excellent, the helmet was really light, and I’m intrigued by the advanced safety features and ventilation that the koroyd liner purports to bring. Add that to Klim’s 30% military discount, and it was worth pulling the trigger to me.

Swung by their shop last Fall on my way home from Yellowstone. The Krios is an incredible helmet. Doesn't fit my head shape, LOL.

If you can find one, the BMW System 4 or 5 modular Carbon fiber helmets are quite light. IF it fits you is another story.

Schubert C4 lite helmet form CG
No such helmet exists. There are C3 Lite/Basic, C3 Pro & C3 Pro Woman which are all essentially the same weight. The Lite is only light on features and price, not weight.

C4, C4 Pro weigh about the same, though there are conflicting numbers on the web, from 1570 to 1640 grams. The C4 Pro Carbon is 1400 grams, (3lbs 1 oz Vs the 3lbs 9 oz of the C3 Pro)

For comparison, an old Ls2 FF389 is 3lbs 8oz. The current Strobe, (FF325), is 3 lbs 7 oz.

Note that the LS2 Metro, (FF324), is LOUD. Forget about using comm with this helmet. Mostly because of the front chin air vents.

Main thing is to try the helmets on to see what fit's best. I could not stand any of the Schubert offerings. The fit and design are crazy and not user friendly at all.

I have an Arai XD4 and love it.

Pros.
It fits. I’ve had 12 hr days and it feels great.
Airflow it flows a lot of air
Lightweight
Glasses fit excellent no binding or pressure
Adaptable with so many vents to open/close for ventilation.
It feels more compact with the mouth guard
Visor works for me. Coming from a dirt bike helmet I love me a visor
Sena makes a custom fit com for this helmet
Visor is removable

Cons.

It fogs in cooler weather. 35* and below Fahrenheit
No pinlock shield
Visor can vibrate at higher speeds
Not a modular- eating and drinking while riding is difficult.

Overall I love this helmet. It fits my head excellent. Is light. Quality is excellent. Pricey but worth it in my opinion. I really wanted a modular. Tried them on side by side, put my glasses on- no pressure from the Arai. It sold me.

In regards to fit, you need to understand the shape of your head. And the shape of the helmets you are interested in. Only Arai offers helmets in both round and oval shapes. All others pick some shape and maybe if fits you or maybe not. Schuberth and Shoei change the shapes too, between generations, to make it even more frustrating. The C3 was more round. The C3 Pro is mid oval. The C4 is mid oval, but the C4 Pro is back to a more rounder shape. US and EU helmet shapes from the same brand, same style are also different sometimes. Nolan EU helmets are more oval, US ones are more round.

Bought my first Arai helmet in 1992 and every helmet I’ve bought since has been Arai.

My first Arai XD was about the first year they were on the market and over the years I have owned about 5 different XD’s, sure I still like to look at other helmets but so far I haven’t found one that I thought might work better for me.

I just started using the LS2 Valiant and it's 'loud'...doesn't matter wether the using in full-face mode or open. Though it does allow loads of air to come in on summer days. My Arai XD-4 is relatively light & quiet ... How about the Shubert E1?

Good feedback on the LS2 Valiant. Nothing like real first hand experience being shared. If I got another LS2 I'd probably be looking at the Strobe for my needs. Better venting than my old FF386 helmets and an exhaust port, but not as aggressive as the Vortex or Valiant.

I like the fit and quiet of the Schuberth E1, but it's 4 lbs+. (I've only worn if for 30 minutes at a trade show, not ridden with it.) That's what got me looking at the C4 Pro Carbon, which is closer to 3 lbs. Both are stupid expensive though.

I’m loving the Krios Pro. It’s the lightest, most comfortable helmet I’ve ever worn. It’s a little louder than my Nexx, but it is Dey all day comfortable.

I agree, it's nice helmet. I can't get past the lack of a drop down sun visor though. For my needs, I flip up to eat or take a drink of water from the hydration jug, (drinking tube), and don't want to give up the eye protection during that time. I don't eat on the bike as much as I used to when doing endurance rallies, but still, some jerky or water is common. I don't wish to lack eye protection or be restricted to goggles. Eye glasses alone don't cut it, IMHO. Even safety rated.
