Hi to all!
Has someone use a GEl Seat cushion addapted to their bike seat for confort improvement?
I was looking in to the internet and thought that probably using those gel cushions will improve the confort in my bike, I know that adapting it to the seat with a cover of security attache it to the seat might be an issue, for sure it can be worked out, but what do you think about the idea?
Welcome any feedback, comments, recomendations o suggestions! if there is a NO to use will be glad to understand the reason.
Have a great week.
Miguel.

I had gel on the ST1300. Huntington Beach Honda did the re-do. They used the OE seat pan, and what may have been the OE vinyl. Visually there was no difference. Around town, short rides....no difference. BUT, after being on it for a couple of hours....amazing. I tried to get them to do my FJ; they only do Hondas. I'm sure it depends on what gel is used, and how well your booty can stay in the saddle.

I may just have a Tenere ass but I have done multiple SS1000 and a BB1500 on the stock seat (with the bumper mod) and was neither sore nor burning. I guess skinny and bony does the trick :)

I suffer from the dreaded old man disease, NoAssAtAll. It is without question the worst disability a person seeking a long ride can have. While the AirHawk helps, it just isn't enough so I'm stuck with the high dollar custom seats. I'm sending my seat this month to Russell Day Long.
Maybe, I should go with the Hank Hill method, butt pads? Next time I need propane, I'll ask him how those worked for him. LOL!

Rode a stock seat for 50,000 miles, tried the flat seat mod and that didn’t help me much, bought a used Corbin and for me it is much better than the stock seat but Corbin seats are pretty hard hardly any padding and it’s slippery but for me it’s much better than the stock seat.
I did ride on a friends Seat Concepts Seat for about 180 miles it’s definitely better than stock seat but I have decided it’s not what I want.
A friend is supposedly buying a Russel Day Long so hopefully after he gets it I will be able to put it on my bike and take it for a nice long test ride.
Maybe my age is what leads to the discomfort, the Tenere is the first motorcycle seat I have ever needed to replace in my life.

This!

A good pair of padded, seamless, compression underwear makes a big difference. With boxers I start getting antsy after @ 30 minutes in the saddle, with my LDComfort's I'm good for several hours before I need to stop and give my ass a break.

Beads are another solution for some. Several friends just buy a cheap bead seat cover for a car seat, trim it to the size and shape they need and re tie the edges. One cover easily does 2-3 moto seats. Many auto parts stores carry them.

The opposite end of the price point are custom seats. I'm very happy with my Russell Day Long.

Sit & Fly seat cover is another inexpensive option (~$25) that people seem to like. Allows air to circulate between you and the seat and adds about 1/4” height. You can get the brand name on eBay or direct via AdvRider vendors forum. I read that searching for “scooter seat cover” on eBay gets the same thing for less$$

Do Sit&Fly sell a set that is seperate for rider and pillion? The only one I can see on ebay is a one piece that covers both, and I can't find a website on Google, just reviews.

It's really easy to modify the seat yourself. I've done a few and the write ups are on here. Cost about $40 for a custom seat including a staple gun.

Byron. I have the dreaded NoAssAtAll to. Check out Terrys custom seats. He's got a site with pictures. I've got one and it's fine. I can ride all day no problem. WAY cheaper than the rest of the custom seats. $250 and he has cores so no waiting on a seat. I've had seat concepts (no better than stock), corbin (nice but kinda hard) and Terrys. It's by far the best for my sensitive tush. I've been using a sit & fly two summers and really dig it too. https://www.terryscustomseats.com/

I cut mine off with scissors. It doesn't unravel at all.
+1 for cutting. I ordered a no name version and await delivery to experiment with.
