Since this is not really an event, its just me...and it spans the US coast to coast not just one region...I thought I it would be best to post here.

If all goes according to plan I'll be riding the Lincoln Highway, east to west in about a month; starting around the first weekend of July.
If you are close to the route (see map) and want to ride a bit, or sit down for a meal, give me a holler.

I'll be making a blog post about the trip and it would be fun to have pictures of riders (or at least the bikes of any shy riders...) in the different states.
New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, California.

I'm being vague about my schedule because I will first go north and attend the Cache Rally in Gardiner, Montana, then leaving that I'll ride across Canada, and down to New York to start the LH....so I need to be semper gumby (aways flexible).

Anyway...if you are interested in a meet n greet and possibly eat, keep an eye on this thread and I'll update my location as I can.

LH map;

FYI - The Lincoln Highway is the first US transcontinental highway, completed in 1913.

EDIT due to Sierra1's question: The blue is the original LH route and is the one I will be trying to take. I understand some parts are non existent anymore, and some are dirt roads (gasp!).... I will stay as much as I can on the blue.

Is there a significance to the different colors on the highway? Or are those just your notes?

Good point, the blue is the original highway, other colors are the changes over the years. It is not my map, but the Lincoln Highway association's. They have done an amazing amount of research on the LH.

I've ridden portions of Illinois and Iowa, and will be following your posts here. It would be great to join you for a bit.

I'm going to try and not be in a hurry.... I'll likely take a couple weeks to get from New York to San Francisco.

Have you ridden the Utah section yet being in Utah yourself? I've seen some neat travel shows about it. Lot's of dirt. Took a picture of a Lincoln marker on one of the hwy 50 passes in Nevada. Great bit of history.

I'm in Damascus Maryland and it looks like you'll be riding right by. The only reason I imagine for the detour is you might know somebody in the area but PM me if you want to stop in, have dinner, or need a bed.

Part but not all....I tried to get another part two days ago and lost the trail. I will need to download the map from the LH Assoc site to my smartphone and learn how to use it (probably the hardest part of this venture...)20190602_142405.jpg20190518_133055.jpg

I see your are going to be in my backyard in some parts of NJ. (Rt.27 to Rt206) Are you going to start a new blog or keep your information on starts and possible dates on here? Only asking because it would be a pleasure meeting, riding some part of the route, and at least buying you a coffee or lunch or dinner while you're so close. PM, call or text 7327444407. Tom

P.S. this invite goes to all you other travelers crazy enough to pass through NJ. Hahaha

I just passed this marker on Sunday. Very cool!
If you are coming through Aurora/Denver, I could try to meet-up.

I have ridden most of the Lincoln Highway but never attempted any of the old parts, if I have the time to waste I highly prefer it over the interstate system, we actually rode across Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming on it just last week.

What route do you have planned for Ontario?
I don't really have a plan other than go into Canada at Morgon/Monchy or near there and go east to Montreal..... That's where I'll pick up my better half and we'll continue on to NS, then Bangor.

Hey is that the road out towards Dugway? If so its a fun curvy, hilly stretch.
Yes, 199. Be careful at Dugway, don't get a camera out or try to have a friendly convo with the gate guards.... I've run afoul of them twice. :)

Today (July 4th) is warm and sunny here in Bangor. but rain is in the forecast for my Lincoln Hwy route.. Having ridden in rain all most every day on this trip and wanting a 'change in the weather' I'm going to bag the Lincoln hwy this time and try to find a drier way home.
